Primary Care Sports Medicine Physician

MaineHealth Orthopedics and Sports Medicine in South Portland, Maine is seeking a Board and CAQ Certified/Eligible Sports Medicine Physician its Sports Medicine Program. The candidate's initial training could be in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, Emergency Medicine, or Physiatry. They will have completed a Fellowship in Sports Medicine. This full-time position will supplement the busy practice of two sports medicine specialized surgeons, four sub-specialty surgeons, and five primary care sports medicine physicians.

MaineHealth Orthopedics and Sports Medicine is a multi-disciplinary team of orthopedic surgeons, primary care sports medicine physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, athletic trainers, and clinical and administrative staff committed to providing high quality medical and surgical care to patients of all ages. The orthopedic team at MaineHealth Orthopedics and Sports Medicine in South Portland includes eight joint replacement surgeons, four trauma and fracture care surgeons who are also members of Maine Medical Center's Level One Trauma Program, and six sub-specialty surgeons including pediatric orthopedics, sports surgery, and hand/foot/ankle surgery. The sports medicine team at MaineHealth Orthopedics and Sports Medicine in South Portland includes five primary care sports medicine physicians and an accredited sports fellow.

The successful candidate will work in the clinical setting in conjunction with the orthopedic surgeons, primary care sports medicine physicians, and other care teams within the department. They will also participate in covering local sporting events, work with community sports teams, and cover office call as part of the larger call group. It is the state's leading tertiary hospital with a full complement of residencies and fellowships and is an integral part of Tufts University Medical School where the successful candidate will have an academic appointment.
