This includes teaching classes not only to NCDOT employees, but also to private sector employees at the state and national level, as well as national DOTs.

Through instruction and outreach, you'll build and sustain professional networks that connect engineers, agencies, and industry partners at the state and national level.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Instruct, assess, and support FEP and HEC courses, including grading, curriculum design, and development of assessment tools.
  • Assist in the design and delivery of in-person and Canvas-based online courses for FE and PE exam review programs.
  • Collaborate with NCDOT, state and municipal agencies, and private-sector engineering partners to develop and evaluate innovative, pedagogically sound approaches to teaching complex technical content.
  • Build and maintain collaborative networks of current and former students, instructors, and staff across ITRE to support a team-oriented learning environment.
  • Support the transition of course materials across platforms, media formats, and learning management systems.
  • Contribute to outreach efforts through presentations, workshops, online discussions, and participation in conferences.

This role is well suited for someone who enjoys teaching, presenting, and relationship-building, and who is motivated by meaningful engagement and seeing learners succeed. If you are interested in your work having an impact beyond the classroom, we encourage you to apply.
