Full Time 40 Hours/Week Monday - Friday, 8-4:30pm On Call Onsite Summary:
Responsible for the assembly, calibration and operation, according to the institutional protocol, of the heart-lung machine for cardiopulmonary bypass, and related equipment as indicated for hospital patients and is responsible for assistance in the provision of 24-hour, year-round call coverage whenever cardiopulmonary bypass, extra corporeal membrane oxygenation, ventricular assist, intra-aortic balloon, left heart bypass, veno-venous bypass, and autotransfusion is required. May supervise CV Technologist, and Physician's Assistant as well as orientation of new and developing employees and students.
Responsibilities: 1.Responsible for operation during cardiopulmonary bypass and preparation and operation of left ventricular assist devices
2.Responsible for cleaning, and/or preparing equipment for use in conjunction with the above procedures, practicing universal precautions
3.Responsible for monitoring and/or recording perfusion and related procedures in such a manner that adequate records will be available for review and study
4.Responsible for maintenance and inventory of all perfusion-related supplies, initiation of needed equipment repairs and maintenance of same.
5.Responsible for recording and storing clinical and research data by computer
6.Responsible for assistance in introducing new devices and techniques, both in the laboratory and clinically
7.Prepare and give inservice lectures to students, technicians/technologists and nursing personnel on perfusion-related topics.
8.Other duties as required. Other information: Technical Expertise 1.Independent judgment and the ability to manage multiple tasks and plan for both short and long-term projects is required.
2.Experience working with all levels within an organization is preferred.
3.Experience in healthcare is preferred.
4.4.Proficiency in MS Office [Outlook, Excel, Word] or similar software is required.
Education and Experience 1.Education: Bachelor's degree in science or equivalent education and subsequent completion of an accredited school of cardiovascular perfusion is required.
2.Certification: Certified or certification eligible by the American Board of Cardiovascular Perfusion is required.
3.Years of experience: Experience as a certified perfusionist or experience as a perfusion student enrolled in an accredited school of cardiovascular perfusion.
