Starting Salary: $180,000 - $210,000; depending on experience

Position Overview:

The Service Director oversees multibranch operations, financial performance, safety, and strategic growth across a large regional commercial mechanical services organization. This leader ensures operational excellence, manages subsidiary or branch level leaders, drives profitability, and aligns all service units including HVAC, plumbing, and related technical groups within corporate strategy. This role also requires deep operational leadership, P&L responsibility, and experience managing distributed service teams.

Key Objectives / Directives:

Key Responsibilities:

1. Leadership & Multisite Oversight

  1. Provide hands-on leadership, coaching, and performance management to operational leaders across multiple HVAC, plumbing, and service subsidiaries throughout our regional operations.
  2. Ensure alignment of local operations with company strategic goals, brand standards, and operational policies.
  3. Drive accountability through standardized KPIs, routine performance reviews, and regular field visits.

2. Operational Excellence

  1. Oversee operational execution, service delivery efficiency, scheduling, dispatch, and resource utilization across service lines.
  2. Drive a culture of innovation.
  3. Oversee the development and implementation of standardized "franchised" processes to strengthen excellence in sales, operations, and field services.
  4. Optimize fleet management, dispatching systems, safety compliance, and operational workflows to enhance productivity.
  5. Monitor and respond to changes in laws, industry trends, and market dynamics related to building performance.
  6. Support integration of new acquisitions, including due diligence, onboarding, and cultural alignment.

3. Financial Performance & Strategic Growth

  1. Direct P&L management for regional business units, including revenue forecasting, budget development, and Gross Margin targets.
  2. Identify new market opportunities, emerging trends, and pathways to expand regional customer base and service offerings.
  3. Ensure financial controls, labor productivity, margin enhancement, and reporting accuracy across all branches.

4. Safety, Compliance & Quality Assurance

  1. Enforce all safety regulations, conduct compliance audits, and implement hazard identification procedures.
  2. Maintain adherence to local, state, and federal regulatory requirements across HVAC, plumbing, and mechanical service work.
  3. Support training and continued professional development to uphold safety, technical quality, and customer satisfaction standards.

5. Talent Development & Culture Building

  1. Recruit, mentor, and develop operational leaders and service teams to ensure continuity, skill growth, and high performance.
  2. Lead succession planning and employee engagement initiatives across the regional organization.
  3. Promote cultural integration and team alignment following acquisitions or organizational changes.

6. Customer & Partner Relationship Management

  1. Promote a customer-focused culture and ensure delivery of high-quality service experience.
  2. Build strong relationships with key clients, ensuring high satisfaction levels and rapid resolution of escalated issues.
  3. Partner with other Lines of Business and Support Lines of Business and account management teams to support growth initiatives and cross-regional opportunities.-regional opportunities.
  4. Support onboarding clients for large commercial, industrial, or institutional accounts.

Secondary Responsibilities:

  1. Conduct weekly one-on-one meetings with direct reports.
  2. Maintain an active program for recruiting, hiring, and training field technicians.
  3. Evaluate and implement tools and software to improve service delivery and operational efficiency.
  4. Participate in job site visits with sales team members as needed.
  5. Ensure consistent quality control in service delivery.
  6. Review and approve timecards and productivity reports.
  7. Manage and approve time-off requests.
Position Requirements

Required Skills and Abilities:

1. Technical & Operational Expertise

  1. Strong integrity and ethical leadership.
  2. 10+ years of experience in commercial mechanical service operations, including HVAC and plumbing leadership.
  3. Proven track record establishing and overseeing large regional or multi-branch operations.
  4. Deep knowledge of mechanical systems, service operations, maintenance procedures, safety protocols, and commercial building systems.
  5. Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  6. High attention to detail.

2.Business & Financial Acumen

  1. Expertise in budgeting, financial forecasting, P&L oversight, KPI management, and strategic planning.
  2. Ability to lead revenue growth initiatives and drive operational efficiency across diverse business units.

3.Leadership & Soft Skills

  1. Strong communication skills, ability to lead through influence, and talent for aligning diverse teams.
  2. Demonstrated success in mentoring, succession planning, and team performance optimization.

Education & Certifications:

  1. Bachelor's degree in Business, Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, or related field preferred.
  2. Safety certifications, construction management credentials, or relevant trade licenses are strongly preferred.

Required Licensing and Other Certifications:

  1. Maintain a valid driver's license and a satisfactory driving record.
  2. Successful completion of a background check.
