We are looking for a Staff Backend Software Engineer to join our client's team. This talent will help build their next generation banking platform. You will be part of a team that empowers its engineers to make technical decisions. As a member of the Bank team you will architect new systems, implement functionality, fix bugs, maintain the health of our systems, and continually grow your skill set. The ideal candidate is both forward-thinking and hands-on, has a solid sense of ownership and drive for delivery, and a strong team player. Our client prides themselves on the collaboration between Product, Design and Engineering, so you will be involved in the entire product lifecycle, from ideation through building, deploying and continual improvement and evolution.

Requirements - On call: 1 week every 6 weeks (24 hours/day). This will be a salary exempt position.

What you'll do:



  • Lead the development and testing of our systems and services
  • Participate in shaping the technical architecture of the product
  • Help translate product requirements into user stories and technical solutions
  • Deliver highly available and scalable services in a production environment
  • Mentor other engineers, support the technical culture, and help grow the team
  • Generate ideas for new initiatives and technologies
  • Communicate with project leads, product managers and other software developers


What you'll need:



  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field
  • 7+ years programming experience & designing for consumer facing applications with stringent scalability/uptime requirements
  • 4+ years in Java/ Kotlin/ Spring / AWS / Kubernetes
  • Experience with Temporal / Kafka and DynamoDB database
  • Experience working on SOA / microservice-based applications.
  • Experience working with GIT and CI/CD systems.
  • Experience working in a collaborative coding environment, refining designs together, working through code reviews and managing pull requests
  • Experience scaling highly available, mission critical systems
  • A solid understanding of relational databases and ORMs
  • View Unit and Integration test as 1st class citizens in software development
  • Willingness to roll up your sleeves, collaborate with others and get stuff done
  • Solid sense of responsibility; driving a project from inception to completion
  • Affinity for solving problems and shipping impactful features, not polishing perfect code or architecture

  • Fintech, payments, banking experience
  • Interest in personal finance
  • Experience scaling highly available, mission critical systems
  • Full-stack experience, either toward systems (kafka, temporal, docker), databases (DynamoDB), or front-end (javascript/typescript, react).


The target hiring compensation range for this role is $69 to $82.50. Compensation is based on several factors including, but not limited to education, relevant work experience, relevant certifications, and location.
