Position Overview Join the leadership team at the newly renovated J's Restaurant, the heart of the hotel tower at Horseshoe Bay Resort. J's offers an authentic Texas-inspired dining experience across multiple service points, including our signature dining room, lounge, poolside service, and in-room dining. As the Assistant Restaurant Manager, you will serve as a critical leader in our daily operations. You will ensure seamless service across all meal periods, optimize labor productivity, and mentor a high-performing team to deliver the "Genuine Texas Hospitality" our members and guests expect. Essential Job Functions Operational Leadership
- Multifaceted Management: Oversee daily operations for J's Restaurant, the Lounge, Poolside service, and In-Room Dining.
- Strategic Planning: Lead short- and long-term planning for outlet operations, including inventory management, ordering, and coordinating special events.
- Performance Optimization: Monitor occupancy changes to adjust staffing levels in real-time; work to reduce payroll costs while increasing overall productivity.
- Service Excellence: Conduct routine table checks and provide hands-on support during peak hours to ensure total guest and member satisfaction.
Team Development
- Coaching & Mentorship: Lead and inspire a team of supervisory staff, designated trainers, and hourly associates.
- Associate Engagement: Foster a culture of inclusion and belonging, taking the initiative to manage the outlets with the ownership mindset of a free-standing entity.
- Training Oversight: Support and execute staff training programs to ensure deep knowledge of food production, wine, and spirits service.
Administrative & Safety
- Logistics: Manage employee scheduling, inventory control, and production area setup.
- Compliance: Maintain a clean, safe, and environmentally responsible work environment in accordance with OSHA Hazard Communication Standards.
- Inter-departmental Liaison: Work closely with the Restaurant Manager and other resort departments to ensure a cohesive guest experience.
Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years in the Food & Beverage industry. Previous supervisory or management experience in a resort or high-volume setting is strongly preferred.
- Certifications: Valid TABC and Food Handler's certificates required (ServSafe preferred). Must possess a valid driver's license with an insurable driving record.
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; a Bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management or a related field is highly valued.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel; experience with Agilysys POS systems and 10-key calculators preferred.
- Attributes: High degree of problem-solving ability, a sense of urgency, and a professional commitment to personal hygiene and appearance.
