Position Summary:

Responsible for leading operation of the Quality Support Teams which include gage calibration, electronics standards calibration, hydraulic pressure and flow calibration, metlab, NDT, and layout. Implements the Parker Lean system and Win Strategy to ensure a safe work environment, drive quality improvements, provide premier customer service, develop a qualified workforce, reduce operating costs, inventories and lead times through continuous improvements. Oversee day-to-day activities to meet daily, monthly, quarterly and annual expectations.

SCOPE/SUPERVISION AND INTERACTION:

Supervisory responsibility includes, but is not limited to, training and developing subordinates, delegating work assignments, coaching and counseling employees, and administering disciplinary procedures up to and including Written Warnings. The employee has the responsibility and authority to identify the status of production materials and equipment and take action with such materials as defined in work instructions and control plans. Will interact with employees at all levels of the organization, customers, and outside contacts.

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and direct work activity for the team members, distributing the workload appropriately. Motivate and empower subordinates.

  • Provide effective cross training for Value Stream associates and backups from other value streams to assure the continuous smooth running of the value stream. Encourage team to stop and fix problems to get quality right the first time.

  • Work with team members to identify continuous improvement opportunities. Constantly identify and eliminate waste in assigned departments. Champion Lean Kaizen events to identify cost and time savings. Participate in cost-reduction programs.

  • Perform capacity analysis and determine staffing requirements for the Quality support team. Ensure that departmental productivity targets are met to meet customer requirements. Troubleshoot scheduling and material issues.

  • Develop and deploy standardized work instructions of assigned department(s). Ensure process stability through following standardized work.

  • Promote and enforce compliance of safety policies and procedures. Conduct safety investigations and audits. Address safety non-compliance.

  • Maintain Team Improvement Board(s), creating a visually controlled environment to assure no problems are hidden.

  • Update and maintain all internal procedures applicable to the Quality support team functions to ensure compliance to AS9100, NADCAP, and regulatory requirements.


Qualifications:

  • Education and experience at a professional level typically acquired through a B.A. /B.S. degree in a related technical or business discipline and four or more years of directly related experience.

  • Demonstrated ability to perform in the described role and responsibilities and obtain the desired results.

  • Substantial practical knowledge and understanding of products, manufacturing processes, and/or specialty areas in quality or operations support, including applicable information systems and reports (e.g. MRP or other planning/execution systems).

  • General knowledge of business and government regulations (e.g. manufacturing specifications, FAA, safety).

  • Demonstrated teamwork and team building skills in producing results and meeting organizational objectives.

  • Capable of assessing and developing individual and team skills and capabilities.

  • Able to create and maintain enthusiasm for new and challenging goals.

  • Serve as a role model by promoting new ideas and positive change.
