For over 20 years, Smartsheet has helped people and teams achieve-well, anything. From seamless work management to smart, scalable solutions, we've always worked with flow. We're building tools that empower teams to automate the manual, uncover insights, and scale smarter. But more than that, we're creating space- space to think big, take action, and unlock the kind of work that truly matters. Because when challenge meets purpose, and passion turns into progress, that's magic at work, and it's what we show up for everyday.

We are hiring a Vice President of People Business Partnerships to lead the evolution of our global talent strategy and our People Business Partnering function for our next phase of scale. This is a foundational leadership role for an architect who thrives on bringing structure to complexity and driving operational rigor across a global organization.

As a key partner to the Chief People Officer, you will lead an ambitious, high-performing PBP team, identifying opportunities for their professional growth and learning while designing the frameworks and organizational structures required to support a multi-billion dollar enterprise. You will act as a strategic advisor to a global leadership team, ensuring our talent landscape is optimized across the U.S. and our key international hubs.

You will report to our Chief People Officer and can be located in our Bellevue, WA office, or you may work remotely from anywhere in the US where Smartsheet is a registered employer.

You Will:

  • Ensure alignment of company vision and strategic priorities with a workforce plan that enables execution at scale, serving as the bridge between high-level business objectives and global operations and delivery.
  • Lead organizational design, workforce planning, and role clarity initiatives that reduce ambiguity, strengthen decision-making, and drive operational efficiency across the enterprise.
  • Drive data-informed decision making, proactively identifying organizational risks and opportunities; partner with leaders through influence to ensure the right priorities are addressed and translated into action.
  • Build globally consistent talent systems and programs that remain locally relevant, ensuring international teams are fully integrated into and aligned with the corporate vision.
  • Establish the frameworks, guidance, and workflows required to enable leaders and People Business Partner (PBP) teams to design and implement solutions consistently at scale.
  • Lead initiatives related to international team scaling and cross-regional management, with a specific focus on supporting growth and maturity in India.
  • In partnership with Talent Management, design and implement programmatic frameworks for performance management, workforce design, and top-talent retention that drive clarity, accountability, and measurable outcomes.
  • Provide organizational design, workforce management, and related HR practice coaching to senior leaders and the PBP team.
  • Develop and mentor the PBP team and cross-functional partners, as needed, to build capability and support successful business outcomes.
  • Foster strong partnerships with Legal, FP&A, Compensation, Talent Management, and other key internal stakeholders to ensure talent strategies are aligned, financially sound, and operationally scalable.
  • Support and drive additional HR initiatives and responsibilities as the business evolves.

You Have:

  • 15+ years of progressive HR experience, with a proven track record of leading teams of 20+ and driving impact through influence and trust at all levels.
  • Deep experience advising and scaling teams across global technology hubs, with experience partnering with local leaders and overseeing HR in India and the UK.
  • Proven ability to operate effectively across cultures and time zones, building trust and alignment in distributed, international environments.
  • Expert-level organizational design and workforce planning skills with a track record of building and implementing global frameworks.
  • Hands-on experience designing and implementing performance management systems, retention strategies, and high-performer programs that drive measurable outcomes.
  • Demonstrated success improving operational efficiency at scale by clarifying roles, responsibilities, workflows, and decision rights.
  • Comprehensive understanding of multiple HR disciplines including compensation, talent development, and employee relations, within a SaaS or software environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and coaching skills, with the ability to deliver constructive feedback, and build trust based relationships during periods of significant change.
