The South Carolina gigafactory in Florence will supply next generation cells for BMW starting in 2026. About the Role

The IT Operations Specialist is responsible for providing stable, reliable day-to-day IT operations support for end-user services and core IT platforms. This role ensures continuity of IT services following team transitions and works closely with IT leadership, external service providers, and business users to maintain operational effectiveness.

This position is not a system engineering role, but a hands-on operational role with defined responsibilities and escalation paths

What You Will Do

End-User & Operations Support

  • Provide on-site IT support for end users, including hardware, printers, and workplace IT services
  • Act as a local escalation point for complex Helpdesk and desktop support issues
  • Support printer operations, troubleshooting, and vendor coordination

Microsoft 365 & Identity Operations

  • Perform day-to-day operational tasks for Microsoft 365 (user provisioning, access changes, basic troubleshooting)
  • Support Active Directory account administration under established policies and procedures
  • Assist with license management and user lifecycle processes

Security & Access Operations

  • Perform operational support tasks for privileged access management tools (e.g. PAM360), including account onboarding and routine maintenance
  • Follow documented security procedures and escalate exceptions to IT leadership

ITSM & Process Support

  • Support ServiceDesk Plus (SD+) for ticket handling, categorization, and operational reporting
  • Ensure tickets are handled according to SLAs and internal processes
  • Assist in documenting procedures, runbooks, and operational workflows

Collaboration & Escalation

  • Work under the guidance of senior IT leadership and external partners for advanced system changes
  • Escalate system-level issues appropriately; does not independently design or implement infrastructure changes
  • Support audits, access reviews, and compliance-related activities as requested

What You Need
  • 3+ years of experience in IT support, Helpdesk, or IT operations roles
  • Hands-on experience with:
    • Microsoft 365 user administration
    • Active Directory (basic administration)
    • ITSM tools (e.g. ServiceDesk Plus or similar)
  • Strong troubleshooting and customer service mindset
  • Comfortable working in an on-site manufacturing environment
  • Ability to follow documented procedures and escalation processes

Work Environment

The work environment is primarily an automated manufacturing plant with a concrete floor and is characterized by some temperature extremes, moderate noise, and forklift traffic.
