FS GRAIN operates 19 facilities with a combined storage capacity of 40 million bushels, and access to multiple grain markets, including ownership of two Class I shuttle loaders.We are an Equal Opportunity Employer.

SALARY RANGE:$75,000-$115,000 / year

PURPOSE AND SUMMARY STATEMENT

The Rail Terminal Manager is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the Kankakee rail terminal. The manager is responsible for the day-to-day operations to include staffing, loading, and unloading while striving to meet the Company's goals and profit margins.

SUPERVISION AND LEADERSHIP

Develop and train operation employees to ensure employee engagement and safe working environments.

Coordinate with shipping yard, grain inspection, merchandising, and staff to ensure all BNSF & NS rail cars are loaded in a timely fashion.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Develops plans for efficient use of materials, machines, and staffing of all facilities for maximizing profits while providing high quality customer service.

Responsible for grain quality and modifies operation and inventory control programs to maintain and enhance profitable operations.

Responsible for providing grain services to including load outs, drying, and blending of grain.

Responsible for compliance and enforcement of OSHA, State, Federal, and Company safety regulations.

Maintain a professional appearance of employees, equipment, rolling stock and facilities.

Oversees inventory management including monthly inventory measurement to comply with State mandate and company policy.

Communicate grain quality and facility/equipment conditions with Operations Manager.

Communicate job expectations including planning, monitoring, appraising and reviewing job performance.

Enforce employee handbook and safety procedures.

Resolve problems arising from employee conflict or operation failures. Communicate any issues with Operations Manager, as needed. Identify trends in both employee and operational management.

Coordinates the purchasing of facility equipment and supplies for the repair and maintenance of facilities.

Coordinates with Safety Manager for effective safety training for all employees and needed documentation

Recommends or approves expenditures and appropriations to optimize profitability at assigned facility.

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS

Provides professional customer service that results in a pleasant experience for customers.

Adheres to the company Uniform Policy and maintains the appropriate professional image.

Performs all other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS

Normally requires 3 years or more of operations related work experience to demonstrate knowledge of planning, organization, problem solving, project management and computer proficiency.

Demonstrates essential abilities including collaboration, communication, customer focus, decision making and skill development.

Must have and maintain a valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record.

Ability to work extended hours as business conditions warrant including nights and weekends.

Ability to travel independently and overnight.

Occasionally exposed or required to:

  • Extreme weather conditions (hot, cold, wet, etc.)
  • Noisy conditions
  • Working conditions may include dust, fumes, chemicals, and electrical hazards with appropriate safety measures
  • Work at varying heights including climbs on grain bins, legs, etc.
  • Lift 51 - 70 lbs.

Actual compensation will be determined based on experience, location, and other factors permitted by law. In addition to base pay, certain roles may be eligible for bonuses, incentives, and commissions.
