DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this position, you will be responsible for the maintenance and repair of Commonwealth vehicles, equipment, and related parts. You will perform repairs and overhauls on a range of vehicles, including cars, trucks, and tractors, as well as maintain and service associated equipment. Responsibilities include repairing and replacing components such as shock absorbers, transmissions, hour meters, clutches, brakes, and other mechanical parts. You will balance and align wheels, complete minor body repairs, and overhaul and test alternators and other electrical systems. Additionally, you will implement and carry out a preventive maintenance program, perform mechanical diagnostics and tune-ups, and continually enhance your skills and competencies by participating in staff training programs to support safety and high-quality resident care.

- Full-time employment, 7.5 hours per day, 37.5 hours per week
- Work hours are 1st shift (7:00 AM to 3:00 PM), Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- Travel and overtime: As needed
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
- Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Four years of experience in the automotive mechanic trade; or
- Completion of an approved apprenticeship; or
- Any combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledges, skills, and abilities.

Preferred Qualifications (not required):
- Willingness to travel to the sites of disabled or damaged state-owned vehicles throughout Pennsylvania
Legal Requirements:
- A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination.
- This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
- Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
