The Center for Infection and Immunity (CII) - one of the world's most advanced academic centers for research in infectious disease surveillance, diagnosis and discovery in acute and chronic illnesses is seeking an experienced Staff Associate to be an integral member of the Center's High-Throughput Sequencing (HTS) team. The successful candidate will apply experience and expertise to develop and optimize new and existing protocols for HTS platforms for pathogen discovery. S/he must be proficient in molecular biology techniques, and be familiar with sequencing platforms, e.g. Illumina, Ion Torrent, Nanopore. It is also a requirement of this position to develop proficiency with the latest library preparation, sequencing, and diagnostic techniques. The candidate will also independently set up and carry out experiments involving PCR, cloning, nucleic acid extraction from tissue cultures and clinical samples, and preparation of templates for sequencing. S/he is expected to work with manufacturers/companies to troubleshoot and optimize new and existing sequencing instrumentation and protocols. S/he will be responsible for the maintenance of instruments in sequencing area. S/he will assist lab supervisors with routine laboratory and administrative operations, including inventory control and supplies orders. Also, duties will include generating reports, keeping records, and performing tasks related to laboratory testing. In addition, s/he will assist in training collaborators, technicians and visiting scientists and perform other laboratory related duties as assigned.

Requires a bachelor's degree in relevant field plus 4 years experience
