This position works under close supervision and is primarily responsible for operating in the Encapsulation Department. The 2nd shift is from Monday through Thursday with operating hours from 2:30pm-12:30am.

In this role you'll make an impact by:

  • Settings-up (assembles and disassembles), operating, adjusting, cleaning and sanitizing equipment to produce products within quality standards and according to procedures.
  • Performing minimal maintenance and preventative maintenance (PM) on equipment as required, and when appropriate.
  • Assisting others in the areas trained as required by production demands or by direction of the Supervisor.
  • Printing and applying labels to product.
  • Verifying lot and batch numbers and maintains accurate production records, and equipment logs.
  • Assisting in developing and improving SOPs.
  • Following all workplace safety protocols and ensure safe operation of equipment at all times.
  • Maintaining a clean and organized work area in compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Participating in safety training and report any incidents or hazards immediately.
  • Working closely with other operators, technicians, and supervisors to meet production deadlines.
  • Participating in continuous improvement activities using Lean concepts and principles.
  • Troubleshooting and/or identifies equipment failures or problems.
  • Adhering to Powered Air-Purifying Respirator (PAPR) requirements when working in environments with airborne contaminants or hazardous materials.
  • Maintaining and ensuring proper care and usage of all personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Taking necessary samples for QC testing as needed.
  • Completing necessary paperwork and/or data entry for production and/or inventory records.
  • Adhering to all GMP, including sanitary requirements, Safety, and Standardized Work procedures.
  • Adhering to guidelines as set forth by religious dietary law certifications (Kosher and Halal).

To succeed you must hold:

  • Ability to read, write and speak English.
  • Ability to apply basic mathematical concepts to the production process including conversion of weight and volume in the metric system.
  • Ability to read and follow a production journal to produce batches.
  • Ability to operate a pallet walker and/or forklift, preferred.
  • Ability to use basic hand tools (hammer, screwdriver, wrench) for assembly and disassembly of equipment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers regarding the status of the production process.
  • Basic computer skills. ERP system knowledge (SAP), preferred.
  • These characteristics are normally acquired through a High School Diploma or GED with experience in a production environment preferred.

Expected salary range: $19 an hour plus shift premium

Working Conditions

Working environment is a production unit and includes frequent exposures to wet, humid, dusty, or loud conditions, moving machine parts, fumes or airborne particles and chemicals. Company issued personal protective equipment is expected to be worn at all times while inside the production environment. This can include, dust mask/PAPR, hearing protection, hair/beard net, safety glasses, gloves, and safety shoes. Work may occur in small rooms with air lock compliance to avoid interdepartmental contamination.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, talk, hear, lift and/or move materials or equipment up to 50 lbs., use hands to finger, handle objects, tools or controls and roll bags. Occasionally required to scoop, kneel, crouch or crawl and use foot/feet to operate machinery. Specific vision abilities required by this job include vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
