Description
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- User Support: Investigate, analyze, and resolve complex issues related to PCs, desktop/label printers, phones, and shop floor thin client machines.
- Inventory Management: Maintain inventory records of internal hardware and software assets, cataloging new and existing hardware/software licenses.
- Account Management: Create, maintain, and remove user accounts/groups using Active Directory. Serve as backup for user account setup in business systems, including Epicor ERP and ProCad.
- Workstation Setup: Set up, install, configure, and test new workstations, including peripheral equipment and software, and complete appropriate checklists.
- Policy Adherence: Adhere to corporate and IT department policies concerning software installations on PCs, obtaining proper authorization for non-standard installations.
- Printer Maintenance: Ensure printers are functioning properly and coordinate with vendors as needed.
- Security: Install and maintain antivirus software on all workstations.
- Patch Management: Approve and provision security patches and hotfixes on workstations and laptops.
- Configuration Management: Modify configurations, utilities, and software default settings for local workstations as needed.
- Documentation: Document setup procedures and user instructions for equipment.
- Upgrades: Perform timely hardware and software upgrades on workstations.
- Communication: Discuss hardware/software needs with the supervisor to ensure inventory levels are sufficient and accounted for in the IT budget.
- Change Management: Communicate planned changes that could impact the system and affect its user base.
- Vendor Relations: Serve as an on-site technical resource for specific vendor relationships.
- Additional Duties: Perform other duties as assigned
Education and/or Experience
- BS degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or equivalent.
- 2-4 years of experience in IT support and technician role, with a strong background in hardware and software troubleshooting.
Travel
This position requires some local travel (less than 30 miles) Computer Skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft suite of applications for both desktop and server.
- Proficiency supporting cloud applications and remote workers.
Other Requirements
- High level of initiative, positive attitude, ability to prioritize, meet deadlines, manage changing priorities, and effectively work in a team environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Quick learner that easily adapts to new technology and displays a willingness and desire to learn.
- Working knowledge of help desk software, databases, and remote control.
- Knowledge of hardware and PC setup.
