At the College of Social and Behavioral Sciences (SBS), we work to investigate ideas, transform social conditions, and tell unheard stories. Seven of our graduate programs are nationally ranked in the top 25, including top 5 programs in anthropology, geography, political philosophy, and creative nonfiction. With a wide range of subjects to choose from, our students can explore subjects ranging from ancient philosophy to artificial intelligence. The University of Arizona Southwest Institute for Research on Women (SIROW) is looking for an enthusiastic individual to join their 7 Generations Behavioral Health Center of Excellence (7 Generations CoE) team. SIROW is a resource and research institute that designs, implements, and evaluates community-collaborative projects to improve community well-being. The purpose of the 7 Generations CoE is to create a center to develop and strengthen behavioral health agencies to better serve tribal communities to improve health outcomes. The primary purpose of the Health Promotion Partnerships Coordinator is to support the 7 Generations CoE in achieving its goals by facilitating communications, activities, and relationships that engage behavioral health professionals and community members across the nation. The position will involve representing the CoE at national and regional events and building and maintaining relationships with a variety of stakeholders. The person in this position will primarily support three focus areas of the CoE: (1) soliciting guidance from national experts, (2) impacting policy, and (3) developing leaders. This position is supported by grant funding. The position will require extensive travel throughout the United States, with approximately 30% of the time spent traveling out-of-state. | Duties & Responsibilities |
Coordinate Leadership Components of the CoE
- Play a key role in the development and design of
behavioral health trainings, workshops, and other activities that the CoE's leadership receives. - Develop content and resources to support the goals and
initiatives of the leadership fellows throughout their engagement in the CoE. - Plan the CoE's annual Leadership Academy; designing and
administering content. - Coordinate a national recruitment strategy to identify
leadership fellows. - Facilitate connections between fellows and among various
communities.
Support the CoE's National Steering Council (NSC)
- In partnership with the 7 Generations team, design,
develop, and create behavioral health content and resources that reflect NSC member input, address identified community needs, and inform CoE activities and approaches. - Assist in planning and coordinating quarterly NSC
meetings, including region- and community-specific cultural activities and experiences that align with behavioral health priorities. - Develop relationships that support the engagement of
current NSC members and the recruitment of future members, while serving as a resource for behavioral health information and support. - Serve as a primary point of contact for the CoE's National
Steering Council, which is comprised of behavioral health experts, professionals, and persons with lived experience.
Enhance the CoE's Visibility, Reach and Efficacy
- Represent the CoE at national and regional events. This
may include serving as an exhibitor, participating in networking activities, giving presentations, and other types of engagements. - Make connections and build relationships with a variety of
stakeholders to ensure the CoE is reaching those in need and of benefit to the target population.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge and competency working with
American Indian and Alaska Native communities. - Skilled at building positive rapport, engaging in positive
interactions with others, and developing close and ongoing relationships. - Proactive communicator, strategist, and problem-solver.
- Creative, thoughtful, and intentional (specifically
regarding the identification and/or development of activities and experiences for NSC members and leadership fellows). - Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to be highly responsive to communications.
- Ability to provide exceptional follow-through on tasks and
initiatives. - Ability to work independently and as part of a multi-part
collaborative team, taking into consideration perspectives from NSC, internal team members, and federal funders. - Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel,
PowerPoint, etc.). - Ability to participate in extensive national travel.
- Ability to meet agency standards for attendance and
punctuality. - Skilled at effective work habits and professional judgment
and ethics.

| Minimum Qualifications |
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through professional level experience.
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience required, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
- Must have a valid driver's license and ability to drive according to the University Fleet Safety Policy.
- Ability to travel on an airplane.
