The Position

2026 Summer Intern - Regev Lab - Decoding Genetic Circuitry

Department Summary

Regev lab is seeking a talented and highly motivated intern with a strong computational and analytical background in computational biology. This project aims to decode the genetic circuitry of human immune cells by analyzing high-dimensional perturbation datasets.

This internship position is located in South San Francisco, on-site.

The Opportunity

By applying rigorous statistical methods, the research focuses on interpreting and analyzing cell states to determine how genetic interventions drive phenotypic shifts. A key objective is to relate transcriptomic profiles to broader biological contexts, bridging the gap between gene expression and functional outcomes to map the rules governing immune cell behavior.

Program Highlights

  • Intensive 12-weeks, full-time (40 hours per week) paid internship.

  • Program start dates are in May/June 2026.

  • A stipend, based on location, will be provided to help alleviate costs associated with the internship.

  • Ownership of challenging and impactful business-critical projects.

  • Work with some of the most talented people in the biotechnology industry.

Who You Are

Required Education:

  • Must be pursuing a Master's Degree (enrolled student).

  • Must be pursuing a PhD (enrolled student).

Required Majors: Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, Systems Biology, or Bioengineering.

Required Skills:

  • Analyze High-Dimensional Perturbation Data: Interrogate large-scale genetic screens (e.g., Perturb-seq) to map the landscape of gene function and regulatory networks.

  • Apply Statistical Frameworks: Utilize rigorous quantitative approaches to identify robust gene expression programs and relate these transcriptomic patterns to broader spatial or genomic contexts.

  • Drive Data-Informed Validation: Collaborate closely with interdisciplinary teams to translate computational findings into actionable experimental targets, helping to prioritize specific hits for follow-up and functional characterization.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Qualifications

  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.

  • Complements our culture and the standards that guide our daily behavior & decisions: Integrity, Courage, and Passion.
