Description

Salary range is $21.63/hour to $64.42/hour with a midpoint of $42.31/hour. New hires typically receive between minimum and midpoint, however, we may go slightly higher based on experience, internal equity and market.

This is a term-limited position with an end date at 3 years of service.

GENERAL PURPOSE:

Under supervision of the Learning & Development (L&D) Training Manager, and in collaboration with the L&D team, the Learning Specialist E&I will provide training and support for the advancement of diversity, equity and inclusion learning opportunities as well as other subjects.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

The following duties are a representative summary of the primary duties and responsibilities. Incumbent(s) may not be required to perform all duties listed and may be required to perform additional, position-specific duties.



  • Work in collaboration with the Senior Program Manager of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion to support the development, design, and facilitation of DEI/equity-centered training and learning opportunities.
  • Provide instruction and presentation of a variety of training courses.
  • Assist in working with Learning and Development team to evaluate teaching methods with the overall goal to deliver impactful learning opportunities that increase engagement and participation.
  • Co-facilitate training sessions in various modalities (in person, hybrid, and remote).
  • Support the Equity Symposium or equivalent learning opportunities.
  • Assist with general administrative duties, such as coordinating enrollment, scheduling class times and locations, sending invitation information, and tracking training data.
  • Co-create training materials with various staff in L&D.
  • Champions and models Sound Transit's core values and demonstrates values-based behaviors in everyday interactions across the agency.
  • Contributes to a culture of diversity, equity and inclusion in alignment with Sound Transit's Equity & Inclusion Policy.
  • Follow Agency safety rules, regulations, and procedures pertaining to their assigned duties and responsibilities, which could include systems, operations, and/or other employees.
  • It is the responsibility of all employees to integrate sustainability into everyday business practices.
  • Other duties as assigned.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree in Ethnic and/or Gender Studies, Social Sciences, Organizational Development or a related field. Four years of experience developing and facilitating diversity, equity, inclusion training using adult learning theories, preferably in a non-profit, public sector or service environment; Or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Required Knowledge and Skills:



  • Theories of adult learning methods and methodologies such as ADDIE and Kirkpatrick.
  • Intermediate understanding and application of equity and anti-racism principles, practices, and strategies in an organizational setting.
  • Experience in DEI training development and facilitation.
  • Experience participating in and/or leading training and conversations centering race relations and social justice.
  • Ability to build meaningful and authentic relationships with diverse audiences both internally and externally.
  • Strong presenter of technical and non-technical information to an audience with varying skills and backgrounds.
  • Technical skills in productivity software applications, which include but are not limited to: Windows and Office 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, OneDrive for Business, SharePoint, and Teams).
  • Communication skills, verbal and written, to work with all levels of the Agency, consultants, vendors, and trainees.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, and resources to meet goals.
  • Self-starter who can prioritize and plan work activities and manage time effectively.
  • High attention to detail and ability to distill complex ideas into clear guidance and communications.
  • Ability to work across different functions and build relationships with interest-holders and champions and exhibit conflict resolution skills when needed.
  • Perform duties involving the use of independent judgement, personal initiative, and resourcefulness.
  • Promote trust and credibility with all levels of employees.
  • Ability to work in a changing environment.


Physical Demands / Work Environment:



  • Work is performed in a hybrid office environment.
