Bachelor's degree in a related field of science and 2 years of professional experience

BA/BSc in biological sciences.
Position Summary
This position is a supervisory role in the day-to-day workings of the Rozario lab, which is a growing research program. This includes supervision of lab maintenance tasks including propagation of the tapeworm life cycle, organizing and maintaining inventory of all research materials, preparing common solutions and reagents for the general lab, and general lab compliance and management. The Lab Manager will be the direct supervisor of research technicians in the lab. The Lab Manager will also perform primary research under the supervision of the PI.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies

  • Minimum 2 years experience in rat euthanasia, rat oral gavage, propagation of the life cycle of Hymenolepis diminuta, molecular biology skills, microinjection skills, tissues sectioning, and RNA in situ hybridization.


Physical Demands

  • Remain seated or standing for extended periods of time; reaching and grasping by extended hand(s) or arms(s); dexterity to manipulate objects with fingers for example using a keyboard, forceps, dissection scissors; ability to see within normal parameters; ability to move about workspace.
  • Mobility, including the ability to move materials weighing up to several pounds (usually about the weight of a laptop; less than 50 lb.)

  • Complete primary research projects: Work with PI to complete research projects on understanding growth, regeneration and reproduction of tapeworms.
  • Necessary lab skills include microinjection, parasite cultures, basic molecular biology, gene expression analysis by in situ hybridization, immunohistochemistry, sectioning, microscopy and other techniques as needed.
