Title: Desktop Support Technician - Windows 11

Duration: Long term

Shift Timing: 7am to 5pm (M-F)

Pay Rate: $24/Hr. on W2 with county holidays (no additional benefits).

Position Overview:

  • Dallas County is seeking temporary Desktop Support Technicians to support a large-scale project to upgrade existing devices to Windows 11 and deploy new Windows 11 computers across multiple county departments. This role is project-focused and will require hands-on technical support, strong verbal and written customer service skills, professional presentation and demeanor, and strict adherence to county and criminal justice security requirements.

    Selected candidates will work directly with County IT staff and departmental employees to ensure a smooth, secure, and efficient transition to Windows 11.


Role & Responsibilities:

  • Perform Windows 11 upgrades on existing desktop and laptop computers.
  • Deploy, image, configure, and replace with new Windows 11 devices.
  • Migrate user data, settings, and peripherals as required.
  • Troubleshoot hardware, operating system, and basic application issues.
  • Provide deskside and walk-up support during deployments.
  • Follow documented deployment, imaging, and security procedures.
  • Maintain accurate records of device installations, upgrades, and asset changes.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with end users and project leadership.
  • Travel between County facilities as assigned.


Qualifications:

  • Prior experience in desktop or field IT support
  • Hands-on experience with.
  • Windows 10 to Windows 11 upgrades
  • New PC imaging and deployment
  • User profile and data migration
  • Active Directory user and device support
  • Basic networking and peripheral troubleshooting
  • Familiarity with endpoint management or imaging tools (e.g., SCCM, Intune, or similar)
  • Strong customer service and communication skills
  • Ability to follow standardized processes in a regulated environment
  • Reliable personal-use vehicle for travel between county sites


Security & Compliance Requirements:

  • Must be able to pass a CJIS (Criminal Justice Information Systems) background check
  • Must comply with all County IT security and data protection policies
  • Confidentiality and professionalism are mandatory


Travel & Expense Reimbursement:

  • Travel between county locations is required
  • Mileage reimbursed at the current federally defined mileage rate ($0.725 per mile)
  • No overnight travel anticipated


Work Environment:

  • On-site, hands-on support role
  • Fast-paced project environment with scheduled deployments
  • Involves lifting and moving desktop equipment (within reasonable limits - up to 50 lbs.)
