Summary We are seeking an exceptional, hands-on Associate Director, R&D IT leader that is a highly hands-on technology and people leader responsible for end-to-end IT partnerships, solution delivery, and operational support across the company's radiopharmaceutical Research & Development organization. This role is intentionally designed for a lean, asset-centric R&D environment. The leader will operate as a "Swiss Army knife," personally executing across the full solution lifecycle-from scientific and clinical business partnership through solution design, configuration or development, testing, validation, deployment, and production support-while also managing vendors, budget, and a small internal team The role serves as the primary IT partner for asset-focused R&D functions, including:

The ideal candidate brings a very hands-on all-round credibility in the R&D space across all the functions above, working with business and customer stakeholders for meeting business needs with technology, architectural and design leadership, hands-on development, scrappy and roll up your sleeve implementation expertise, providing solutions support for testing, post go-live support and validation activities throughout the lifecycle. A successful candidate has a deep understanding of R&D asset lifecycles, key R&D applications and systems across the business portfolio, study strategies, regulatory and quality needs, development milestones and all R&D data needs including analytics and reporting needs, future focused R&D data products, AI and Gen AI use cases that bring tangible ROI to the R&D organization, translates scientific, clinical, imaging, safety, and regulatory needs into pragmatic, compliant technology solutions, has high level of influencing experience and successes in steering business partners towards standard IT solutions vs solutions they may prefer, and balances speed, quality, and compliance in a fast-moving radiopharmaceutical R&D environment. This role will shape the enterprise's R&D IT journey as R&D grows from a business standpoint across all business functions, integrates R&D focused organizations as part of Lantheus 3.0 and external business partners in CRO's and similar organizations. This position is based in Massachusetts and requires a presence on-site (two/three) days per week, and open to applicants authorized to work for any employer within the United States. Key Responsibilities/Essential Functions Enterprise R&D IT Strategy, Operations & Support
- Set and execute a multi-year R&D IT roadmap aligned with business priorities and capabilities needed across all Lantheus R&D functions including integrating R&D focused organizations as part of Lantheus 3.0.
- Personally lead and contribute to:
- Business and system requirements definition
- Solution architecture and design
- Configuration, scripting, or development as required
- Integration between R&D, clinical, regulatory, quality and data systems
- Testing, validation, release, and post-go-live support
- Operate across commercial Off-the shelf SaaS and non-SaaS platforms, vendor-hosted systems, and custom solutions.
- Ensure solutions are right-sized for a midsize organization-robust but not overengineered
- Lead the shift from a fragmented, application-centric reporting ecosystem to an enterprise-standardized data foundation with governed, reusable data entities.
- Establish data integration, mastering, lineage, and governance frameworks that materially improve data quality, accessibility, and trust.
- In partnership with the data and information teams, create a searchable R&D data lake, data marketplace and a suite of data products enabling self-service analytics, natural-language data queries, and secure business-friendly discovery and reuse of data assets. Also identify and create AI and Gen AI solutions (off-the-shelf, SaaS or custom built) that provide differentiating competitive advantage for the R&D business areas including functional agents, cross-functional agentic orchestration solutions and solving critical and complex business use cases in R&D functions.
- Establish Analytics Platforms (BI Tools) Guidance across all functions
Business Partnering and Stakeholder Management
- Acts as the face of R&D from an IT perspective for the enterprise. Manages outcomes focused on business relationships and partnerships with customers and are accountable for their perception of application and data as it relates to R&D, their ease of use and availability, and business value utilization in the enterprise.
- Ensures ideation, discovery, collection, management, implementation and reporting of functional and cross functional applications and capabilities related use cases for R&D
- Ensures setup and management of customer feedback loops and their perceptions for constructive and continuous improvement in line with organizational goals, customers' expectations and teams career aspirations.
Training & Change Management
- Develop and execute R&D wide application, data, analytics, automation and AI training strategy to uplift digital literacy and self-service capabilities.
- Build role-based learning pathways, center-led training programs, and enablement initiatives across functions.
- In partnership with the data teams, lead structured organizational change management for all major R&D capabilities and applications, data, analytics, automation and AI platform introductions.
- Drive communication plans, stakeholder alignment, and R&D adoption for new capabilities and operating models.
Governance & Risk Management
- Establish and operationalize R&D wide governance, stewardship, and quality management practices including governance and process of data across R&D functions
- Define policies for application and data access, security, privacy, compliance, and responsible use.
- Partner with Legal, Compliance, Quality, and Security to ensure alignment with regulatory standards (e.g., GxP, SOX, GDPR, data privacy).
- Implement governance forums, data councils, and decision-making structures that ensure trust, transparency, and accountability.
Operational & Delivery Excellence
- Oversee delivery of capabilities and applications, data-oriented dashboards, analytics solutions, integrations, data pipelines, and R&D information management capabilities.
- Ensure strong partnership and alignment with the IT data and peer functions, system owners, enterprise architects, and functional leaders.
- Mature the team's operating model from reactive/tactical delivery to strategic advisory.
People Leadership & Culture Building
- Lead, inspire and motivate a small team of individual contributors to be R&D superstar partners for business customers and collaborative towards their functional peers. Also can grow and expand the team based on business demands and based on experience.
- Proven and demonstrated success in uplifting a tactical team to a highly performing team with minimal business impact while having inspirational impact on team members is an absolute must in this role

Financial & Portfolio Management
- Own and manages functional and project portfolio budgets, vendor relationships, platform investments, and contract negotiations.
- Establishes and has extensive experience in setup of financial cost allocation, chargeback, consumption and run operating model alignment with C level business partners including pricing plans, cost optimization for application and data related costs e.g. data transfer to/from cloud provider environments, what is charged back to non-IT functions and what IT pays for.
- Evaluate new technologies, platforms, and strategic partners.
- Review and determine vendor contracts, SOW's, conduct impact assessments, and share recommendations for business decision-making
- Prioritize and communicate portfolio demand across run, grow, and transform initiatives
- Propose and align on a standard R&D and cross functional demand management process across all R&D functions.
Basic Qualifications
- 7+ years of progressive experience across R&D applications, data, analytics, integration, information management, automation, and AI/GenAI.
- Demonstrated hands-on and architectural depth across modern R&D application portfolio including application for each capability in R&D including data/AI platforms.
- Proven experience driving enterprise transformation toward standardized applications by capabilities vs functional and sub-functional silos, data, self-service analytics, governed data ecosystems, and AI/GenAI solutions.
- Strong leadership track record managing individual contributors and managers alike.
- Strong financial management experience.
- Experience in pharmaceutical or life sciences environments preferred
- Bachelor's degree required, master's preferred.

They are credible at both the keyboard and the boardroom, work the full stack from strategy to delivery to operations, are energized by complexity, and have proven and demonstratable experience to be able to deliver transformative results in a fast-moving environment. They are comfortable with ambiguity and frequent context switching. The candidate would have extensive experience in delivering as an all-rounder across the R&D portfolio in a global multi-cultural enterprise with real hands-on expertise and delivery experience across key R&D functions within pharmaceutical industries. Technical Hands-On Architecture, Implementation and Process Platform Experiences:
- Veeva ETMF, RIMS, MIQ, Vault Medcomms, Link, H1, Monocl, Bonterra, Claris, Cure8, Syneos, Vonage, SAS Analytics Pro, Benchling, ELN, Medidata Rave, ARGUS, Planisware and other key applications for key capabilities within R&D functions
- Specialized functional AI and GenAI applications in life science industries (off the shelf or custom developed) in R&D vertical and implementation expertise in R&D COTS and SaaS applications for quick wins and building momentum in that space is highly desirable.
- Understanding of R&D IT strategy into business strategy for capability and data-driven outcomes.
- Understanding of automation tools and their usage within R&D function.

The pay range for this position is between $139,000-$232,000 annually. Actual base pay offered may vary depending on a number of factors such as job-related knowledge, skills and experience. Employees in this position are eligible for a discretionary performance-based cash incentive, and depending on the level of the role may be eligible for a discretionary annual equity award. Benefits for this position include a comprehensive health benefits package that includes medical, prescription drug, dental, and vision coverage. Other offerings include life and disability benefits, pre-tax accounts, a 401(k) with company contribution, and a variety of other benefits.
