Job Summary The Community Outreach Leader will help design, coordinate, and implement outreach activities that build meaningful connections with youth and young adults in West Philadelphia. This role is ideal for an individual who is passionate about community engagement and has direct experience working with diverse youth populations. The Outreach Leader will support PZRC initiatives, foster trust with young community members, and uplift youth voices within research and community projects. This position reports to the PZRC Project Coordinator. This is an hourly position, up to 15 hours per week beginning immediately. Essential Functions
- Build relationships with youth and young adults in the Promise Zone through consistent, meaningful engagement.
- Support outreach efforts for PZRC programs, events, and research engagement initiatives.
- Co-develop youth-friendly materials, presentations, and outreach strategies.
- Facilitate small group conversations, listening sessions, and feedback circles with young people.
- Coordinate and attend community events, school gatherings, youth programs, and neighborhood activities.
- Collaborate with PZRC members, community partners, and youth-serving organizations to strengthen recruitment and participation.
- Assist in creating content for social media campaigns aimed at youth awareness and involvement.
- Maintain accurate records of outreach activities, interactions, and engagement outcomes.
- Participate in regular (remote or in-person) meetings with the supervisor to review progress and deliverables.
- Support the design and facilitation of youth advisory groups or youth-centered project workshops
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 1-2 years of experience.
- Experience working directly with youth and/or young adults in community, school, sports, or program settings.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, especially across diverse backgrounds.
- Ability to build trust, listen deeply, and engage respectfully with young people.
- Knowledge of community engagement principles and interest in equitable research practices.
- Excellent organizational and time-management abilities.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
- Ability to attend community events, sometimes outside typical business hours (e.g., evenings and weekends).
- Ability to attend remote check-in meetings with Project Manager and Outreach Leader Team, as necessary
- Experience using digital tools (e.g., email, Canva) and social media platforms (e.g., Instagram, X, Facebook) is preferred.
- Young adults with strong community ties to West Philadelphia neighborhoods-Mantua, Powelton Village, West Powelton/Saunders Park, Mill Creek, East Parkside, and Belmont-is strongly preferred

Additional Information This is a Part-Time per diem position classified as Non-Exempt. The offered pay is based on the successful candidate's qualifications and experience, department budget, and an internal equity review.
