Summary:
The MaineHealth Regional Compliance Officer (RCO) role provides oversight of compliance activities and serves as a compliance, policy and regulatory subject matter expert. The RCO provides guidance to the assigned Local Health System's workforce on all manner of compliance related matters; develops and reviews compliance policies and procedures; creates and implements compliance education; identifies potential areas of vulnerability and risk; and develops, implements and monitors corrective action plans to resolve instances of conduct that do not conform to MaineHealth policies or to federal or state laws or regulations.

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)

  1. Education: Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  2. License/Certifications: Certification in Healthcare Compliance (CHC) preferred. If not currently certified, the candidate must become certified within one year of hire.
  3. Experience: Five years of experience in a healthcare organization required. Knowledge of healthcare operations, clinical activities, coding/billing/reimbursement, quality improvement and risk management preferred. In-depth knowledge of the state and Federal rules and regulations applicable to healthcare settings preferred.
  4. Additional Skills/Requirements Required: N/A
  5. Additional Skills/Requirements Preferred: Knowledge and general understanding of Federal and state compliance program requirements, particularly in relation to hospitals, physician practices, and other healthcare facilities.
