The Position

Roche Diabetes Care is committed to helping people with diabetes live their lives.

As a pioneer in the development of blood glucose monitoring and insulin delivery systems, we want our patients to be as active as possible and help healthcare professionals manage their patients' condition in an optimal way. The ACCU-CHEK portfolio-from blood glucose monitoring through information management to insulin delivery - offers innovative products, services and comprehensive solutions for convenient, efficient and effective diabetes management.

Roche Diabetes is expanding its team with a Senior Scientist. In this role, you will provide technical leadership to support product and process research and development (including design, development, analysis, troubleshooting, etc). You will translate customer/ product requirements into design specifications, coordinating internal & external resources to ensure timely realization of project deliverables. You will utilize sound experimental design, perform complex scientific research to support research and development of product formulations and/or analytical methods. Occasionally, the Senior Scientist will train personnel, conduct pilots or perform validation activities.

  • You have specialized and in-depth comprehensive knowledge and experience in the field of analytical chemistry, electrochemistry, biosensors, in-vitro diagnostics, and/or biomedical engineering.

  • You have the ability to apply a broad knowledge of principles, practices and procedures of your respective field.

  • Your responsibilities will be dynamic and complex often involving research, analysis and solution development.

  • You will provide direction on issues of area of expertise and assist department leadership in setting strategic direction. You may assist more junior level staff by providing advice and guidance.

  • You will also be responsible for maintaining and continuously improving the quality system and achieving quality objectives through daily actions.

  • You will work independently to identify technical objectives and opportunities, as well as risks and alternatives; you will drive interdepartmental or cross-functional decisions or projects.

This is an on-site position based in Indianapolis, IN.
Relocation benefits are not being offered for this role.

Who You Are:(Required)
  • You have a Bachelor's in Chemistry, Medical Technology or a related Life Sciences discipline with 5 years of relevant experience, or Master of Science/PhD in Chemistry, Medical Technology or a related Life Sciences discipline with 2+ years of relevant experience

  • You have 6+ years of innovative work experience (academic and/or industry) in an appropriate scientific discipline

  • You have demonstrated experience applying scientific principles in a broad range of technical assignments, making independent decisions based on sound scientific reasoning and analysis

  • Your accomplishments are highlighted in one or more of the following areas: patents/disclosures, technical publications or new product design and development

  • You have demonstrated leadership of complex technical projects

  • You have demonstrated hands-on experience working in a cross functional/matrix environment

Preferred:
  • You have experience working in a regulated product development environment

  • You have experience supporting the development of a commercialized instrument/device.

  • You have demonstrated strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to communicate technical knowledge in a clear and understandable manner, especially to non-experts; you excel at problem-solving skills and the ability to work under ambiguous situations.

  • You have excellent organizational skills, including the ability to efficiently evaluate, prioritize and handle multiple changing projects and priorities; you complete work in a timely, accurate and thorough manner.

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of Indianapolis, IN is $95,000 - $177,000. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance.
