The Vice President, Transitions reports to the President, Network Operations and is an enterprise-wide leader responsible for the planning, and execution, and governance of mergers, acquisitions, affiliations, and large-scale operational integrations across the organization's national footprint. Serving as the primary point of accountability for transition outcomes, this role ensures acquired or newly formed entities are seamlessly integrated into the Network Operations platform while minimizing financial, operational, regulatory, and reputational risk.

The VP, Transitions leads complex, multi-state integrations by aligning leadership, physicians, and cross-functional operational teams around shared objectives, timelines, and performance expectations. This role drives standardization and optimization of operating models, oversees change management and communication strategies, and ensures SOPs, systems, and governance structures are effectively adopted and sustained post-integration.

As a trusted advisor to executive leadership, this position proactively identifies integration risks and barriers, recommends enterprise-level solutions, and leads continuous improvement initiatives that strengthen scalability, performance, and long-term value creation.

Key Performance Area

KPA 1 - Enterprise M&A Transition Strategy and Governance

  • Provide leadership and oversight for all M&A, affiliation, and growth-related transitions nationwide.

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for transition planning and execution, from diligence through post-integration stabilization.

  • Establish and maintain enterprise transition governance, including objectives, milestones, decision frameworks, risk controls, and performance metrics.

  • Direct the use of technology platforms and dashboards to track integration progress, deliverables, dependencies, and resource utilization.

  • Identify, assess, and mitigate operational, financial, regulatory, and people-related risks associated with transitions.

  • Communicate regularly with senior leadership and executive stakeholders regarding progress, risks, and required decisions.

KPA 2 - Due Diligence, Documentation, and Integration Readiness

  • Provide oversight of operational due diligence activities, ensuring risks, gaps, and integration implications are identified and addressed.

  • Review and approve key diligence materials, transition plans, and integration roadmaps.

  • Ensure accurate, timely, and compliant management of all transition documentation within enterprise project management systems.

  • Partner with AON advisors including Legal, Compliance, Finance, IT, and HR to ensure documentation supports regulatory, contractual, and operational requirements.

KPA 3 - Leadership and Cross-Functional Alignment

  • Lead and influence enterprise-wide, matrixed teams to deliver successful transition outcomes.

  • Chair and facilitate cross-departmental meetings focused on integration strategy, issue resolution, and decision-making.

  • Act as a senior liaison to physicians, practice leaders, and external M&A partners to ensure alignment, transparency, and trust.

  • Champion innovation and scalable operational solutions within Network Operations to support growth and performance.

  • Build strong partnerships across the organization to drive accountability and collaboration.

KPA 4 - Performance Reporting, Sustainability, and Resource Management

  • Oversee enterprise-level transition status reporting, synthesizing trends, risks, dependencies, and performance outcomes for executive leadership.

  • Ensure all functional and cross-functional processes are positioned for long-term sustainability post-integration, including:

  • SOP adoption and alignment

  • Training and competency validation

  • Process flows and documentation artifacts

  • Ensure work plans are resourced appropriately, and dependencies are actively managed to avoid delays or performance degradation.

  • Monitor post-transition performance to confirm operational stability and achievement of integration objectives.

KPA 5 - Process Optimization, Change Management, and Continuous Improvement

  • Lead enterprise change management strategies to support adoption of new processes, systems, and operating models.

  • Translate lessons learned from integration into standardized best practices and continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Monitor programs for risks, issues, and opportunities, assessing end-to-end and cross-functional impacts.

  • Deliver scalable, sustainable solutions in both direct-report and highly matrixed environments.

  • Strengthen organizational readiness for future growth, acquisitions, and platform expansion.

Position Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Management, Healthcare Administration, or a related field required (or equivalent experience).

  • Master's degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Management, or a related discipline strongly preferred.

Minimum Relevant Experience

  • 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in operations, project management, or healthcare administration.

  • 8+ years of experience leading and developing large, multidisciplinary teams.

  • Significant experience leading M&A or integration initiatives, preferably in healthcare or physician practice environments.

  • Demonstrated success managing multi-state operations and compliance considerations.

  • Proven ability to operate effectively in high-growth, high-change, and high-pressure environments.

  • Experience working across multiple geographies in a virtual or hybrid environment.

  • Strong senior-level communication, influencing, and stakeholder management skills.

  • Advanced organizational, analytical, and decision-making capabilities.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple enterprise initiatives simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail.
