The Assistant General Counsel, Office of Special Counsel ("OSC"), will be a member of a team comprised of attorneys, paralegals, and legal professionals. The Assistant General Counsel will be the primary attorney responsible for conducting and managing DaVita's internal investigations relating to legal and compliance matters, including creating an investigation plan, interviewing witnesses, reviewing documents, making recommendations, and reporting to stakeholders as appropriate. The Assistant General Counsel will also assist with responding to government inquiries and support government-facing litigation matters, including managing outside counsel. This attorney will be a key member of the OSC team, and they will also play a critical role in the larger "Litigation Alliance," a group of teams focused on litigation efforts at DaVita.

Location: Denver, CO strongly preferred

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conducting internal investigations and managing the internal investigations docket.
  • Coordinating responses to inquiries from government regulators.
  • Providing advice to business partners on government investigations.
  • Working on teams to develop and execute litigation strategy and manage outside counsel for civil and criminal litigation matters.
  • Conducting compliance exit interviews.
  • Managing departmental metrics and leading special projects.
  • Participating enthusiastically in the life of the JLD and JLD committees.

Qualifications:

  • J.D. degree from an accredited law school.
  • Must be admitted to practice and in good standing in at least one jurisdiction in the United States.
  • A minimum of 10 years of investigations and general litigation experience, including experience responding to government subpoenas, conducting internal investigations, managing discovery, and handling motions practice.
  • Experience working at a national or regional firm is preferred.
  • Experience with the False Claims Act and/or the Anti-Kickback Statute is preferred.
  • Demonstrated excellence in written work product, matter management and organization, to include the ability to accurately assess and triage risks, prioritize accordingly, and effectively drive matters to completion.
  • Travel up to 10% may be required.

The Salary Range for the role is $129,000.00 - $205,000.00/year.
