Job Description




As a Security Officer - State Capitol Patrol Driver in East Elmhurst, NY, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Government, and more. As an unarmed Patrol Officer at a government transit location, you will conduct routine patrols and vehicle rounds, stay highly visible to help reduce security-related incidents, and support staff and riders with strong customer service and clear communication. You will document activity, respond to alarms and/or calls for assistance, and work as part of a team that values integrity, reliability, agility, and innovation. This is a driving post requiring a valid driver's license.

What You'll Do:

  • Provide customer service to visitors, passengers, and staff by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities at a government transportation location.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, including medical situations, disturbances, suspicious activity, and property damage.
  • Conduct regular and random foot patrols of platforms, bus bays, public areas, employee areas, and perimeter locations to help to deter unwanted activity and/or policy violations.
  • Monitor entrances, exits, and restricted areas, verifying access authorization as required by post orders and site policy.
  • Observe and report unusual conditions, unattended items, hazards, and maintenance issues, and promptly notify the appropriate personnel.
  • Complete incident reports, daily activity logs, and other required documentation in a timely manner with clear, accurate details.
  • Provide directions and general assistance to the public while maintaining a professional presence and following site rules.
  • Support emergency and incident response by communicating with on-site personnel and/or local responders, assisting with crowd control and scene management as directed.
  • Operate communication equipment such as radios and phones to coordinate patrol activity, request assistance, and relay information.
  • Enforce site rules and policies in a courteous manner, using de-escalation techniques and requesting additional support when needed.

Minimum Requirements:

  • A minimum of 6+ months of security-related experience is required.
  • A valid driver's license is required in accordance with Allied Universal driver policy requirements.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver's license will be required for driving positions only.
