FACULTY OPPORTUNITY: Division of Geriatric Medicine and Palliative Care Clinician Educator - NYU Grossman School of Medicine

The NYU Division of Geriatric Medicine and Palliative Care (a nationally-recognized division-- ranked #1 in Geriatrics in US News & World Report), in the Department of Medicine, is seeking a full time Clinician Educator at the Assistant level.

The candidate will provide inpatient and outpatient clinical services for geriatric patients including primary care, management of acute illness, and transition of care in our three locations: NYU Langone Medical Center, NYU Langone Hospital - Brooklyn and Bellevue Hospital Center, the flagship public municipal hospital of New York City and a major teaching affiliate of the NYU School of Medicine.

Teaching responsibilities of this position include precepting and mentorship of geriatric medicine fellows, residents and medical students.

Salary: $238,000-$248,000 annually

Clinical Role and Responsibilities:



  • Perform inpatient and emergency department geriatrics consultations in alignment with the mission of the service
  • Evaluate and manage consults addressing the key Geriatric Syndromes including, but not limited to, falls, delirium, impaired mobility, impaired cognition, elder abuse, multi-morbidity, delirium, and complex goals of care in patients >65 years old.
  • Work collaboratively within a combined physician/ advanced practice provider consult team, as well as maintain close coordination with the Palliative Care, Neurology, and Psychiatry consultant teams also serving this vulnerable population
  • Actively participate in the training of fellows, house staff, medical students, and other learners rotating through the service; contribute to fulfillment of the established curriculum
  • Work to develop and maintain individual and service consult volume through collaboration with primary surgical, internal medicine, and emergency medicine teams
  • Weekend call will be equal and commensurate


Quality and Metrics:



  • Participate in quality improvement activities to evaluate the quality of the services provided based on defined outcomes (eg time to consult completion, effect on length of stay, advance care planning compliance)
  • Maintain appropriate billing and documentation consistent with the standards of the Division and the Institution
  • Individual wRVUs should be consistent with regional norms defined and benchmarked by the Division based on Nationally reported data


  • Current New York Medical License
  • Board certification in Geriatrics
  • Strong communication, teamwork, and leadership skills preferred
  • Clinical and administrative experience preferred
