The compensation offered to the candidate selected for the position will depend on several factors, including the candidate's educational background, skills and professional experience.

Section II: Summary of Job Function

The Pharmacy Technician assists in the provision of pharmaceutical services under supervision of the Registered Pharmacist by performing the technical, clerical and manipulative tasks involved in dispensing, preparing, and distributing all medications and pharmaceutical products for all patient age groups includes geriatrics, adult, adolescent, pediatric and neonatal,

Work and/or performance shall conform to written established policies and procedures,

Section III: Job Qualifications/Education/Training/Certification/Licensure

High School graduate or equivalent,

Associates degree preferred,

Pharmacy Technician Certified/ PTCB or equivalent,

Experience: 1 year of Pharmacy experience,

Successful completion of all orientations,

Special Equipment/ Skills: Baxa and Tpn Compounder knowledge, clean room maintenance and operation,

  • Maintains and demonstrates knowledge in the following areas of pharmacy practice: calculations, generic-made name relationships; special properties of IV admixtures; Stability s of IV preparations, chemical formulas, abbreviations, common conversions and symbols; maintains and demonstrates awareness of limitations of technicians,
  • Communicates all discrepancies and information requested to a registered pharmacist
  • Completes all QA logs per position,
  • Documents tasks in Simplifi,
  • Demonstrates knowledge, skill requirements and expected level of participation in the safety and infection control management program,
  • Stages medications and supplies for compound, and prepares IV admixtures all in a timely manner,
  • Attends all mandatory/departmental in-services as recommended by regulatory agencies,
  • Maintains adequate levels of stock medications,
  • Does quality work,
  • Clean, neat and straight,
  • Willingness to work with attention to detail with the realization that errors may have serious consequences,
  • Cleans and maintains the quality control of the clean room,
  • Assists in care and maintenance of departmental premises and equipment,
  • Follows proper safety and infection control procedures and maintains a safe work environment,
  • Dresses per protocol when working in clean room,
  • Keeps pharmacy area clean,
  • Stages compounds and pick & packs deliveries for next day,
  • Fills out all the proper departmental forms i,e, owe, lent/ borrow, narcotic, rental
  • Able to troubleshoot departmental equipment computers, label, delivery & Zebra printers
  • Follows proper hazardous drug procedures when compounding or handling,
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities that are asked of him/her by the Operations Manager,
  • Performs end of month counts accurately and fills out the online count form,
  • Keeps Re-Pack area clean and organized,
  • Manages time efficiently,
  • Keeps up with orders
  • Properly packages deliveries per specific hospital or facility,
