Human Resources Manager
Yarde Metals is seeking an experienced and hands-on
Human Resources Manager to lead the HR function across our organization and to act in an advisory role assisting HR professionals within the Reliance Family of Companies.
This role will oversee all aspects of HR for a workforce of 550 associates within seven primary locations in multiple states. The position is onsite working out of our corporate office located in Southington, CT. The HR Manager will supervise an onsite team of three HR professionals, drive continuous improvement in HR practices, and support business objectives.
Responsibilities:
- Evaluate HR policies, procedures, and programs to ensure compliance and effectiveness; recommend, develop, and implement improvements or new initiatives to align with organizational goals and best practices.
- Develop and administer various HR plans, policies, procedures, work instructions, guides, and handbooks.
- Collaborate with management to create policies targeted toward DOT/FMSCA compliance and workplace safety.
- Oversee full-cycle recruiting, including workforce planning, sourcing, interviewing, and onboarding.
- Develop and execute HR strategies that enhance organizational effectiveness and employee experience. Lead, manage, coach, and mentor the HR team and management.
- Implement and monitor employee development programs to foster growth and retention.
- Ensure adherence to federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
- Create and administer compensation structures and make recommendations based on market trends.
- Conduct internal investigations and serve as a trusted advisor for employee concerns, conflict resolution, and engagement initiatives.
- Create and maintain KPI's to measure effectiveness of the HR function.
- Perform all duties within the department and of direct reports as needed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in human resources, Business Administration, or related field (master's degree preferred).
- Minimum 7 years of progressive HR management experience, preferably in the metals service center or manufacturing industry.
- Strong knowledge of HR best practices, employment law, compliance, and HRIS.
- Ability to exercise sound judgement and decision-making based on experience and knowledge.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
- Proven ability to lead and develop HR teams.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience using Dayforce HR/Payroll is a plus.
- Strong proficiency and working knowledge of Microsoft applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), as well as general HR software platforms and internet-based search engines.
- Travel to company locations as needed.
