GENERAL DESCRIPTION

The purpose of this position is to lead a crew in producing high quality concrete product with a focus on safety and efficiency.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES



  • Provides hands on leadership of general labor crews.
  • Organizes and coordinates daily production by reviewing blueprints and materials orders.
  • Communicates with the crew Foreman to ensure production is on schedule.
  • Serves as a mentor to the general laborers, providing guidance on SOP's, performance standards, safety, training and development.
  • Troubleshoots production problems.
  • Provides conflict resolution of employee issues on a basic level. Escalates issues to the Foreman as necessary.
  • Provides constructive feedback to the Business Unit Leader and Foreman regarding employee performance.
  • Stripping forms by pulling finished cured goods off of forms and loading onto trailer.
  • Cleaning forms after product is removed using a scraper, steel wool, shovels, sanders, solvents, etc.
  • Setting up forms for pouring, including cutting and placing rebar, pulling or "stressing" rebar strand, tying mesh, and installing imbeds (including plates, vectors and core walls) and setting side rails.
  • Pouring concrete, including placing, raking, and shoveling concrete.
  • Finishing concrete using various tools/methods such as smooth float, steel trowel, brooming, raking and power trowels to achieve a desired finish.
  • Follows instructions, guidelines and procedures timely and accurately.
  • Continually and actively seeks to learn new skills and progress in level of responsibility.
  • Actively looks for ways to improve processes, reduce errors and increase efficiencies.
  • Leading crew in performing plant cleanup/housekeeping including putting away tools, sweeping debris and cleaning cluttered areas.
  • Adhering to safety standards.

EDUCATION, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED



  • Ability to read a tape measure.
  • Ability to read a blueprint.
  • Ability to get to work on time, daily.
  • Ability to work outside year-round (if required)
  • Be detail oriented.
  • Excellent organizational skills.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/ ADA ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS



  • Physically able to lift up to 75 lbs, occasionally.
  • Physically able to push, pull, lift, bend, climb, kneel, twist, squat, crawl and use hands/forearms repetitively and frequently.
  • Ability to move around for up to 12 hours per day.
  • Ability to work from ladders, scaffolding, swing stages and man lifts at various heights frequently.


WORKING CONDITIONS



  • Moderate to high risk of exposure to unusual elements.
  • Moderate to high risk of safety precautions.
  • Moderate to high exposure to production environment.
  • Wet, hot, humid, and wintry conditions (weather related) (plant specific)
  • Ability to work outside year-round (plant specific)
