Job Description:

  • Manage global team of Quality System Engineers, Software Quality Assurance Engineers, Technicians, Analysts, and Internal Auditors. Provide overall direction and coordination of team's responsibilities and activities.
  • Define and establish company's Quality Policies. Develop and implement comprehensive quality and continuous improvement strategies aligned with the organization's goals and objectives.
  • Lead and manage 3rd party QMS certifications (ISO9001, IATF16949, AS9100) and on-going 3rd-party audits at multiple designs and manufacturing locations (Fab & Assembly), world-wide.
  • Manage companywide Internal QMS Audit activities (e.g., ISO90001, IATF16949, AS9100 QMS Audits), Software Quality Assurance Audits (e.g., ASPICE Audits), and Automotive Cybersecurity Audits and Assessments (e.g., ISO21434 Audits).
  • Manage company's global Corrective and Preventive Action System. Ensure corrective actions are assigned, tracked, and resolved in a timely manner.
  • Assist Engineering Business Units, Manufacturing Operations and Support functions with developing and implementing processes, practices and procedures that comply with various QMS standards and quality requirements (SOPs and customer specific).
  • Work with Design and Manufacturing teams to implement APQP, PPAP, MSA, FMEA, & SPC procedures & systems.
  • Evaluate and execute QMS linkage and alignment to other Quality and Industry standards, such as ASPICE, ISO21434, VDA6.3, ISO26262, ISO14001, JEDEC/IPC etc.
  • Integrate new company acquisitions into company's QMS; Lead/manage their certification activities.
  • Work with customers to resolve quality issues. Investigate nonconformities, evaluate risks, and develop/implement/verify corrective actions.
  • Provide support to global teams on quality issues and problem resolution. Interface with Engineering, Failure Analysis, Sales and Manufacturing to identify root cause and implement Corrective Actions. Assist Engineering and Manufacturing teams with disposition decisions on suspect nonconforming and returned material.
  • Work with company functions to design and implement metrics and performance indicators (KPIs) to monitor progress, track results, and communicate the impact of improvement initiatives.
  • Identify needs and opportunities for Quality and Business Improvements. Collaborate with stakeholders at all levels of the organization to gain buy-in and support for improvement initiatives.
  • Lead efforts within the organization in implementation of lean, standardize work and continuous improvement. Collaborate with Cross-functional teams to identify process inefficiencies, bottlenecks, and areas of improvement. Conduct thorough analysis of current processes and workflows, utilizing Six Sigma and other applicable quality and process improvement methodologies.
  • Perform contract and feasibility review on customer technical specifications and non-standard requests. Work with engineering and factory to implement customer requirements. Also work with Legal, Sales, and Marketing on review, response and negotiations with Customer Contracts and Quality Agreement. Assists with planning and hosting of customer quality audits.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies related to process improvement, and integrate them into the organization's practices as appropriate.

Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering. A master's degree is preferred.
  • Extensive experience (10+ years) in Quality Management, continuous improvement, process optimization, or related roles, in a leadership capacity.
  • Excellent leadership and people management skills, with the ability to motivate teams and influence change.
  • Comprehensive knowledge and experience with Quality Management Systems, methodologies, tools.
  • In-depth knowledge of the QMS standards: ISO 9001, IATF16949 (including APQP, PPAP, FMEA, MSA, SPC) and AS9100.
  • Proven track record of successfully leading and implementing QMS standards, global process improvement initiatives, resulting in tangible quality and business outcomes.
  • Ability to understand and translate customer needs and requirements into measurable process and product requirements.
  • Strong knowledge and practical experience with Lean, Six Sigma, and other process improvement methodologies.
  • Strong analytical and 8D problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify root causes and develop effective solutions.
  • Understanding and experience with VDA6.3, ASPICE, ISO21434, and ISO26262 standards and their linkages to each other and other QMS standards.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of collaborating with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Project management experience, including the ability to strategize, plan, execute, and monitor improvement projects within defined timelines.
  • Strong business acumen, with the ability to understand organizational dynamics and align improvement initiatives with strategic objectives.
  • A continuous learning mindset and a passion for staying updated with the latest customer and industry standards trends and advancements in process improvement.

Benefits of working at Microchip

The annual base salary range for this position, which could be performed in the US, is $130,000 to $265,000.*

*Range is dependent on numerous factors including job location, skills and experience.
