STS Technical Services is conducting a confidential search for an experienced Chief Aircraft Inspector to support a regulated aviation maintenance operation in Milwaukee.

This senior-level role provides leadership over inspection and quality functions and plays a critical role in ensuring regulatory compliance, safe maintenance practices, and efficient return-to-service operations. Discretion will be maintained throughout the hiring process.


Position Overview

The Chief Aircraft Inspector is responsible for leading inspection and quality activities within a certified aviation maintenance environment. This role oversees inspection personnel, authorizes inspections, supports audit readiness, and ensures compliance with all applicable aviation regulations and quality standards.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage inspection and quality functions across maintenance operations
  • Ensure ongoing compliance with applicable FAA regulations and internal quality standards
  • Oversee inspector activities during repair, overhaul, and modification work
  • Perform and authorize in-process and final inspections as required
  • Support return-to-service documentation and airworthiness release activities
  • Maintain inspection-related programs including calibration control, shelf-life monitoring, and scrap control
  • Participate in internal, customer, and regulatory audits
  • Interface with regulatory authorities and customers as required
  • Maintain approved technical data, inspection procedures, and quality documentation
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives across inspection and quality systems

Required Qualifications

  • FAA Airframe certification or FAA Airframe and Powerplant certification
  • Eligibility for a Repairman Certificate considered acceptable
  • Minimum of 5 to 10 years of inspection and or quality experience within aviation maintenance or repair operations
  • Strong working knowledge of FAA regulations and quality systems
  • Proven ability to make sound inspection and airworthiness decisions

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior leadership or supervisory experience within inspection or quality functions
  • Experience supporting audits and regulatory interactions
  • Strong organizational, communication, and decision-making skills
