Overview

The Senior Specialist is responsible for overseeing all activities related to the mutual aid fleet, which consists of approximately 250 aerial trucks. This role ensures the fleet is fully prepared for deployment during emergency storm events. Key responsibilities include establishing and maintaining fleet vendor service and repair contracts, creating purchase orders, processing invoice payments, and performing all garage-related activities to maintain a safe, reliable, and regulatory-compliant environment. The Senior Specialist also prepares new fleet vehicles for service, manages documentation for routine maintenance, repairs, and testing, and provides direct fleet support during storm events.

Responsibilities

Core Responsibilities
  • Manage requisitions and process invoice payments on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
  • Oversee vehicle maintenance contracts and ensure adequate funding for renewals.
  • Coordinate garage inspections, repairs, and fleet maintenance equipment upkeep.
  • Conduct weekly garage inspections and organize waste removal.
  • Collaborate with Supply Chain and vendors to evaluate maintenance options, promote supplier diversity, and enable cost savings.
  • Establish and maintain Pomona as a NY state inspection facility, including licensing and equipment management.
  • Implement cost-saving and improvement initiatives, such as solar panel installation, corrosion prevention, and maintenance reviews.
  • Support site expansion, deliveries, vehicle preparation, and emergency repairs during storms.

Qualifications

Required Education/Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree and 3 years of relevant experience. or
  • High School Diploma/GED and 5 years of relevant experience.
Preferred Education/Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree and 3 years of relevant experience.
Relevant Work Experience
  • Demonstrated customer focus, excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to handle
  • multiple assignments.
  • Demonstrated experience analyzing data, both technical and financial.
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Working knowledge of Oracle Business Intelligence and Supply Chain systems.
  • Work experience in fleet management.
  • Working knowledge of Fleetwave System.
Licenses and Certifications
  • Driver's License Required
Additional Physical Demands
  • The selected candidate will be assigned a System Emergency Assignment (i.e., an emergency response role) and will be expected to work non-business hours during emergencies, which may include nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Must be able and willing to travel within Company service territory, as needed.
