PCC Aerostructures is a leading supplier of complex components and assemblies to the global aerospace industry.

PCC Aerostructures now includes more than 35 plants in the U.S, Europe and Asia with over 5500 employees and has ambitious growth plans. Plant's locations include Washington, Utah, California, Oklahoma, Kansas, Texas, Ohio, Canada, Mexico, the UK, and China.

Location Profile:

Progressive was founded and incorporated in 1971 in Arlington, Texas. Heroux-Devtek Inc. purchased Progressive in 2004 who helped to expand the site which has doubled its manufacturing footprint and more than doubled sales and employee base. In August 2012, Precision Castparts Corp. (PCC) acquired Progressive. In January 2022 Progressive merged with ADI, Aerospace Dynamics Inc. and now ADI Progressive is one of the largest footprints within the Aerostructures Division of PCC.

Predominantly, a provider for large, highly complex machined parts, kits and assemblies for OEMs and large Tier One providers for both military and commercial market segments. Progressive is a 140,000 square foot facility.

Position Summary:

The Operations Supervisor is responsible for managing and leading the daily functions and activities of the manufacturing operation. The Operations Supervisor will execute on daily company expectations and drive excellence in the following areas: Safety, Quality, Compliance, Performance, and Continuous Improvement. The Operations Supervisor will oversee and manage multifunctional departments supporting the manufacturing and delivery of products. The Operations Supervisor will develop strategies to achieve operational objectives for daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual metrics including Sales, Productivity, Cost Management, and EBIT. These objectives are achieved by partnering with Machine Production, Engineering, Supply Chain, Information Systems, Quality, Human Resources and motivating the production workforce. The position demands strong leadership, communication and team-building skills, as this person will interface with all levels of the organization. In addition, the Operations Supervisor must possess strong financial acumen and critical thinking skills.

Reporting Relationships:

The Operations Supervisor will report to the Operations Manager.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

Primary Functional responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Understand, adhere, and demonstrate to the company's commitment to SAFETY and QUALITY.
  • Directs and coordinates the activities of the line and staff components of the organizational unit toward the achievement of established objectives.
  • Manage the department budgets and takes ownership of exceeding daily performance targets. Drive key performance indicators (Safety, Quality, Schedule, and Cost).
  • Is responsible for the full range of operational teams, including individuals performing manufacturing (machining, grind/deburr), inspection, assembly, and shipping & receiving tasks.
  • Provides guidance and analysis in appraising the effectiveness of all operational activities.
  • Develops and implements operational strategies and goals to meet the plant's financial and non-financial objectives.
  • Ensure department employees are properly trained in applicable work instructions and work is being performed to procedure. Coordinate efforts of staff with Technical and other resources to modify work instructions as required to continually improve in areas of process control, safety, quality, yield, throughput, and cost.
  • Communicate with direct reports so that all goals, expectations, and performance against plans are well understood. Encourage employee participation and involvement to foster teamwork, ownership, and employee satisfaction.
  • Develop staff to perform at increasingly higher levels and to accept broader responsibilities through coaching and training in leadership, teambuilding, and other applicable subjects (Lean Manufacturing, TOC, Six Sigma, PCC toolbox techniques).
  • Defines, develops, and establishes an organizational structure to optimize operating efficiency.
  • Effectively collaborate with manufacturing engineering, quality engineering, and operations to achieve scrap, cost, and safety requirements.
  • Develops area priorities as it relates to plant requirements and communicate daily with engineering, quality, production control, finance, human resources, production, and suppliers, measure performance against stated priorities.
  • Analyzes variable labor costs daily, work with supervisors to determine required staffing levels and support labor re-allocation across the plant as required.
  • Carries out management responsibilities including interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; evaluating and appraising individual performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Supports a zero-injury culture by proactively complying with all environmentally safe practices and regulations.
  • Reads all MSDS' and possesses thorough knowledge of all oil and chemical labeling and storage requirements.
  • Conducts EH&S self-inspection and safety huddles in areas of responsibility.
  • Administers policies and procedures as required.
  • Provides effective leadership and acts in a manner that maintains a positive and productive work environment with customers, clients, co-workers, and area employees.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, and Power Point).
  • Proficient use of Syteline MRP or other MRP/ERP/DRP Systems.
  • Knowledge of Machining and/or Manufacturing/Logistics.
  • Strong ability to prioritize, planning, time management and project management skills.
  • Ability to interpret Metrics such as variable cost, earned standard hours etc.
  • Knowledge of management principles involved in strategic planning and forecasting including people, material, and equipment resource allocation; corporate and human resource policies and benefits; leadership and teaming; and production methods.
  • Ability to motivate, develop, and direct people as they work, while identifying the best people for the job.
  • Aspirations to grow and explore leadership development opportunities within PCC.

Required Experience:

  • 2-5 years of relevant experience within a manufacturing environment and a leadership role with direct experience supervising a cross-functional team.

Levels of Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in a related field.

Physical Demands & Working Condition:

  • May be required to move items up to 35 pounds.
  • Daily duties may require sitting, standing, bending, squatting, reaching, pushing, pulling, operating, and manipulating hand tools.
  • Daily duties may require extended duration of walking.
  • Exposed to a Manufacturing setting with heavy machinery.
