Position Overview

The following is intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed. This list of duties is illustrative only and is not a comprehensive listing of all the functions and responsibilities performed.

Position Summary:
Eastern New Mexico University is seeking applications for an Instructor of Mathematics, a renewable non-tenure track position, in the Department of Mathematical Sciences beginning August 2026. This is a residential appointment, and campus presence is expected.


Requirements

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Teach developmental mathematics and statistics courses
  • Teach general education mathematics and statistics courses,
  • Provide appropriate service to the department, and
  • Maintain scholarly currency in the teaching of introductory mathematics.
  • Normal teaching load is 12 credit hours per semester.
  • Regular and predictable attendance required
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Minimum Job Requirements:

A Master's Degree in Mathematics, or a mathematically related field, and at least 18 credit hours in graduate-level mathematics is required, but a Master's degree in mathematics is preferred. Experience teaching developmental mathematics is required, and experience teaching High School mathematics is preferred.


Working Conditions

Physical Demand and Working Conditions:

Work is sedentary in nature that at times requires exerting up to 25 pounds of force occasionally and/or a consistent amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
