What You Can Expect Working in the Document Control Position

The Document Control role supports the Contracts and Legal Affairs Manager in all phases of contract and legal document control across LANGE's real estate, development, construction, and affiliated operations. This position is ideal for a detail-oriented professional who understands the legal and business dynamics of real estate, construction, and development, where contracts, documentation of integrity, and risk management are central. The Document Control role assists with drafting, reviewing, organizing, controlling, and maintaining a wide range of contracts and legal instruments, ensuring accuracy, version control, accessibility, and compliance with company standards. This role requires strong initiative, analytical ability, and the confidence to work both independently and collaboratively across multiple entities and projects.

Responsibilities
  • Support the Contracts and Legal Affairs Manager in drafting, reviewing, organizing, and controlling contracts, amendments, and related legal documentation across real estate, construction, development, and service transactions.
  • Maintain the company's contract and legal document management systems, ensuring accuracy, version control, proper classification, and secure storage in accordance with company standards.
  • Coordinate contract execution, including routing for signatures, final document verification, and post-execution filing.
  • Track and manage key contract and document milestones, including effective dates, renewals, expirations, and insurance compliance requirements.
  • Develop and maintain legal templates, standard forms, and clause libraries to promote consistency and efficiency.
  • Support legal research, audits, due diligence, and internal or external inquiries by gathering, validating, and organizing required documentation.
  • Collaborate with internal departments to ensure compliance with contractual, legal, and documentation standards.
  • Help identify and mitigate legal and operational risk through adherence to policies, procedures, and document control practices.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality and exercise of sound judgment in all legal and business communications.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Associate degree in Paralegal Studies, Legal Studies, or a related field and up to 2 years of substantive paralegal or contract-administration experience in at least two of the following industries: real estate, construction, insurance, or property management; or a combination of education and experience.
  • Strong understanding of contract terminology, document management, and legal processes.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, organization, document accuracy, and time management skills.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and document management systems.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities while maintaining a collaborative approach across teams
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting in-house counsel, legal affairs, or compliance in a real estate development or construction company.
  • Knowledge of the Real Estate Industry, Development, or Property Management, and risk-transfer concepts (insurance certificates, indemnity, E&O).
  • Familiarity with manufacturing or fabrication of large-scale or modular structures.
  • Understanding with contract lifecycle management (CLM) or electronic document management systems (EDMS).
