What You'll Do

  • Provide leadership in maintaining safe and secure working conditions, establishes goals and expectations, and prioritizes and integrates work within the group.
  • Ensure strict application of regulations for security and plant protection.
  • Participate in the formal safety investigations of all accidents involving his/her employees.
  • Plan, schedule, and supervise work of Bargaining Unit X-Ray/CT/DR Technicians and Staff.
  • Provide technical direction and process inputs with regards to product inspection and acceptance.
  • Perform Pre-Job and Post-Job briefings with assigned work crews.
  • Serves as point of contact for all activities within assigned operating areas.
  • Interface with the Facility Operations Manager, Shift Manager and Quality Operations engineers as needed.
  • Participate in the facility Plan of the Day and provides communication between the facility and their operating area.
  • Assigns, directs, and monitors work to meet production quality and schedule requirements.
  • Works with the Quality Operations Support group and Radiography Operations manager to identify resources to accomplish assigned tasks including definition of skills-development training needs and identification of budget needs for personnel in the group.
  • Ensures that approved procedures, environmental regulations, criticality and facility safety requirements, materials inventory, and operating practices are in accordance with Conduct of Operations and Authorization Basis requirements.
  • Participates in the development, review, and approval of administrative and technical procedures.
  • Address personnel matters associated with direct reports.
  • Handles employee complaints and resolves personnel issues. Interfaces with NNSA Facility Representatives, NNSA QAA Representatives, and Y-12 management during walk downs or assessments.
  • Conducts tours for visitors in operating areas

Minimum Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree: Minimum 5 years of relevant experience.
  • OR 13 or more years of education and/or relevant experience may be considered to satisfy educational and years-of-experience requirements for this posting.
  • In addition, the applicant must meet the requirements of DOE O 426.2A (i.e., High School diploma and 3 years nuclear experience; or a DOE O 426.2A alternative).

Preferred Job Requirements

  • Level II certification in radiographic testing is desired
  • A strong working knowledge of radiography operations or non-destructive testing methods, procedures, equipment, safety awareness of these processes and weapons quality requirements is desired
  • May require certification or qualification in administrative and technical procedures associated with Conduct of Operations, maintenance and the assigned production processes

Requires a Q clearance; however all qualified candidates will be considered regardless of their current clearance status. The ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy Q clearance is required.

Position may require entry into Materials Access Areas (MAA) and participation in the Human Reliability Program (HRP). If HRP is required, candidate must complete a counterintelligence-scope polygraph, pursuant to 10CFR 709. Medical requirements may apply.
