This position is funded for 1 year(s); continuation past 1 year(s) will be based on university need, performance, and/or availability of funding.POSITION SPECIFICS The Justice and Safety Institute within Penn State Outreach is seeking candidates for a Law Enforcement Training Specialist within the Sheriff and Deputy Sheriff Training Academy. This role will cultivate external relationships,monitor budgets, create, manage, evaluate, and deliver face-to-face educational programs, and plan/coordinate marketing. The successful candidate will be responsible for the following:
Given the daily oversight of hands-on training with Academy participants, this is an on-site position that may not be performed remotely. MINIMUM EDUCATION, WORK EXPERIENCE & REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS Bachelor's Degree 3+ years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience accepted Required Certifications: NoneThis position requires face-to-face interaction with stakeholders, to include deputies, sheriffs, University team members, state sponsor, vendors, and other third parties as needed. This position requires the employee to make complex decisions in a timely basis while addressing conflicting priorities and needs. Person must accurately and consistently apply specific knowledge relevant to state sponsor and University requirements, applicable laws, and recent judicial interpretations. BACKGROUND CHECKS/CLEARANCES This position requires the following clearances in addition to applicable background checks: PA State Police Criminal Background Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance Form, and Federal (FBI) Fingerprint Criminal Background Check. This position requires that you operate a motor vehicle as a part of your job duties. A valid driver's license and successful completion of a motor vehicle records check will be required in addition to standard background checks.
