The Salvation Army Mission: The Salvation Army, an international movement, is an evangelical part of the universal Christian church. Its message is based on the Bible. Summary/Primary Purpose: To answer incoming phone calls, greet incoming clients, donors and assist Social Service Department in determining eligibility and setting appointments for clients with case workers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:



  • Greet all incoming clients/visitors in a friendly professional manner.
  • Answer phone calls in pleasant, courteous manner.
  • Make appointments as needed.
  • Responsible for accurate written messages.
  • Provide paperwork and information about Pathway of Hope to incoming clients seeking assistance.
  • Provide paperwork to families sending their children to camp and singing up for summer day camp and after school programs.
  • Assist Business Administrator with mailings/projects.
  • Maintains food line records in Nebraska Management Information System (NMIS) Service Point.
  • Make bank deposits and scan invoices/deposit slips to DHQ accounting center.
  • Determines preliminary eligibility of clients.
  • All other duties as assigned.



Supervisory Responsibilities: Supervise Volunteers

Education and/or Experience: High School Diploma/GED. Some secondary education preferred. Minimum of 1 year of related experience in reception, telephone work, or data processing preferred. Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.

Qualifications: The requirements listed below are representative of the minimal knowledge, skill, and/or ability required for this position.




  • Ability to work with people of varying backgrounds and cultures with patience and respect.
  • Ability to establish priorities, work independently and proceed with objectives with little supervision.


  • Intermediate skills in Microsoft software to include Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access. As well as the ability to access payroll, timekeeping and personal data via a web-based system.
  • Administrative skills to include utilization of standard office equipment, data entry, 10-key, attention to details and filing.
  • Good communication skills both written and spoken, and ability to maintain effective working relationships.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle confidential matters.



Other Qualifications: Must pass all applicable background checks. Must successfully complete Safe from Harm training within 90 days of hire, as established by The Salvation Army.

Must be able to stand, walk, sit, use hands and fingers, reach with hands and arms, stoop, crouch, talk and hear. Must be able to lift 20 pounds.

Working Conditions: The work environment is a business office setting with office equipment, moderate traffic and noise levels.
