Position Summary: This position will primarily act as a buyer and analyst for raw materials. Manage subcontracting suppliers and act as a back-up procurement analyst for raw materials. This includes procuring materials to support the upstream manufacturing while balancing inventory levels to ensure the lowest possible inventory with the highest possible fill rate. This role will also be involved in the development of Supply Chain best practices within the Materials Management function. Essential Duties & Responsibilities: (Other duties may be assigned)
- Manage the system set up, planning, sourcing, and replenishment of raw materials and components.
- Responsible for subcontracting vendor contracts/scheduling agreements which includes placing/releasing orders, expedite/de-expedite orders as necessary and maintain visual pull inventory.
- Manage subcontracting supply base (communication, vendor performance, open order report, lead time reduction, on time delivery, efficient order quantities, issue resolution, etc.).
- Manage vendor, product, process, and system enhancement projects as assigned.
- Assist in invoice discrepancy resolution for raw materials, manufacturing components, subcontracting parts, and indirect purchasing.
- Facilitate the indirect PR to PO conversion process for all Skokie manufacturing groups.
- Vendor Maintenance - Vendor setups, bank changes, terms changes, etc.
- Procure sample parts for engineering and product management teams.
- Back-up other analysts, primarily raw materials, during vacations or absences.
- Partner with production planning and other departments to ensure business continuity, supply demand, service, and cost management.
- Analyze and adjust inventory levels (safety stocks; order points, transitions, excess/obsolete stock).
- Participate in meetings such as, staff, production, inventory, vendor, budget, safety, quality, continuous improvement, OPS reviews, quarterly communications, as required.
- Follow the Quality Management System requirements as outlined in the applicable QMS procedures.
- Follow environmental and safety rules and regulations and suggest ways for continual improvement.
- Promptly report quality problems, personal injuries, and unsafe conditions.
- Maintain a clean and orderly work area.
- Perform related duties and assignments that are consistent with knowledge and training.
Qualifications - Required Skills:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
- At least 2-3 years' experience using SAP - purchasing, buying, and planning in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong understanding of SAP vendor contracts, scheduling agreements and subcontracting processes preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization, customers, partners, and vendors.
- Demonstrated analytical abilities necessary to plan and prioritize own work, complete work on schedule and maintain required records and logs.
- Ability to balance multiple business objectives at one time. Ability to be flexible and adjust to changing business requirements and trends.
- Proven ability to learn new concepts, processes, etc. quickly and utilize them within a team.
- Strong technical aptitude and analytical skills with the ability to assess trends and statistical data/reports.
- Proficient in Excel, Word and Access is a plus.
- Self-motivated and able to work in a team environment.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to sit for long periods of time.
- Ability to walk and move about, stoop and bend.
Working Conditions:
- Work in an office environment with daily trips into the manufacturing shop which may be subject to excessive noise.
Compensation: The base pay for this position generally ranges between $79,100.00 to $157,600.00. Additional incentives may be provided as part of a market competitive total compensation package. Factors, such as but not limited to, geographical location, relevant experience, education, and skill level may impact the pay for this position.
