The Office of Medical Education (OME) within the University of Colorado's School of Medicine (SOM) is searching for an Estes Park Liaison for the Norther Colorado Longitudinal Integrated Clerkship site. The School of Medicine's Office of Medical Education has transitioned the core clinical curriculum into a Longitudinal Integrated Clerkship (LIC) model, as part of a larger scale full curriculum overhaul. Core clinical education will occur in a longitudinal, integrated fashion primarily in an outpatient setting, with targeted hospital-based training called immersions placed during the core clinical year. Core competencies will be taught encompassing care of adults, children, and pregnant patients taught by providers representing the disciplines of family medicine, internal medicine, pediatrics, obstetrics and gynecology, psychiatry, surgery, and emergency medicine. A longitudinal integrated clerkship (LIC) was created based on three foundational characteristics of an effective, core clinical educational environment: 1. Student participation in comprehensive care of patients over time 2. Presence of a continuous, learning relationship with those patients' clinicians 3. Meeting a majority of core clinical competencies in an ongoing, continuous fashion through those experiences SEEKING APPLICANTS CURRENTLY PRACTICING IN ESTES PARK. Supervision Received: Reports directly to Reports directly to the Northern Colorado Longitudinal Integrated Clerkship Director and dotted to the Dean for the Fort Collins Branch Supervision Exercised: This position has no direct supervision. Examples of Work Performed: 50% - Assist with the administration of the Longitudinal Integrated Clerkship in Northern Colorado - Estes Park experience as needed, and work to continually improve the experience for students and preceptors. Specifically: * Participate in LIC team planning meetings or calls when needed * Communicate effectively with the LIC coordinator(s) and director(s) as needed * Work with the team to create a schedule for students at your site that aligns with the rest of the clerkship * Identify interested preceptors for the clerkship experience, and assist them in obtaining clinical faculty appointments with CUSOM * Develop, coordinate, and communicate a clinical schedule schedule with the student(s) and preceptors at your site * Work with the team to identify and support faculty development for preceptors * Ensure adequate student feedback from faculty at your site * Work with team to develop and deliver student orientation at your site * Stay abreast of any changes in clerkship requirements so these can be adopted * Provide feedback and remediation to any faculty not meeting expectations of excellence in clinical teaching 50% - Mentorship and evaluation responsibilities: * Participate in teaching by precepting student(s) and giving feedback as requested * Work with the LIC director and preceptors to identify students who need remediation and refer them to Northern Colorado LIC leadership * Assist LIC coordinator in gathering evaluations and feedback from specialty attendings about their LIC students * Share feedback on the LIC with attending faculty physicians |
