Job Summary

The Warehouse/Laboratory Support Driver is responsible for the safe and reliable transportation of customer products and material goods to and from the Alcami Wilmington, North Carolina location. The Driver will be delivering and/or picking up customer products primarily in the Petersburg, Virginia area, coordinating deliveries amongst multiple departments and mapping out the most efficient route. In addition, transport activities may occur between Alcami remote sites in Research Triangle Park, Durham, and Garner, North Carolina. This position is challenged with a daily routine that changes based on customer demand and generally takes place in a fast-paced work environment. When not driving, the Warehouse/Laboratory Support Driver will assist the warehouse staff with a wide range of tasks including but not limited to receiving, etc.



On-Site Expectations

    100% on-site position.
  • 1st Shift: Monday - Friday, 8:30am - 5:30pm.


Responsibilities

  • Delivers high value customer products to and from a dedicated client site and/or multiple remote Alcami sites.
  • Provides professional customer service and communication with clients.
  • Coordinates deliveries with multiple departments, as needed.
  • Develops efficient routes for pick-ups and deliveries.
  • Ensures accurate, timely deliveries.
  • Loads and unloads packages considering safety and care at all times.
  • Ensures customer product arrives in the same condition it left.
  • Brings and obtains the required paperwork.
  • Monitors temperature in controlled vehicles during addition and removal of product.
  • Operates temperature monitoring devices.
  • Maintains clean vehicle(s) and workspaces.
  • Completes required travel record logs.
  • Inspects vehicles and reports necessary maintenance or repairs.
  • Obeys speed limits and road signs/ rules.
  • Handles product appropriately and enter information electronically into applicable system, as required.
  • Assists in receipt of received samples, generate individual material identification numbers and initiates chain-of-custody tracking.
  • Follows Good Documentation Practices (GDPs) to complete documentation.
  • Reports issues to management for evaluation and determination.
  • Ensures timely completion and compliance with cGMP and all other relevant company training requirements.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • +2 years of experience driving a company truck or large vehicle.
  • Clean driving record.
  • DOT Training.
  • GMP experience.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Positive attitude.
  • Good Written and Verbal Communication Skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) required.
  • Basic knowledge of GMPs or GLPs is preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of a laboratory environment is desired.
  • Ability to coordinate multiple tasks and interact with laboratory staff.
  • Good organizational and time management skills.
  • Works well in a team setting.


Travel Expectations

  • Up to 5% domestic travel.

The employee must have distance vision, close vision, ability to adjust focus to bring objects into sharp focus, and peripheral vision.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; risk of electrical shock and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The employee will be required to wear the appropriate personal protective equipment for specific job duties to be performed. Such personal protective equipment may include, but not limited to safety eyewear, hearing protection, various types of respirators/breathing apparatus, lab coats, full protective body coverings, various types of gloves, etc. Other tasks involving elevated work may require the use of a body harness and lanyard. Additionally, the employee may be required to operate an industrial vehicle.
