Job Description

Job purpose

A Reclaim Operator is responsible for the efficient operation of reclaim machinery to produce quality regrind for Plant consumption purposes.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Adheres to safety policies and procedures in compliance with company guidelines including wearing mandatory PPE in production areas.
  • Remove finished product from area and place it on scales to verify weight. Band cartons/product to skid for shipment.
  • Places identification labels on product or skids and keep records or generates tally sheets as required and comply with established re-grind plans and procedures.
  • Responsible for personal and overall safety, quality of re-grind and housekeeping in the re-grind area.
  • Organize and load bags/rolls in to the regrind operation
  • Breaks down a dispose of boxes, cores, Gaylord, and pallets
  • Performs quality checks on regrind * Stores semi-finished product appropriately
  • Keeps area organized, and clean of debris for safety reasons
  • Cutting scrap material off cores.
  • Weighs resin boxes produced during the shift and properly reports production
  • May be used for training new people.
  • Responsible for adhering to Environmental Health & Safety programs to provide a safe and clean reclaim area.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications include:

Education & Experience

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Manufacturing experience is preferred.

Communication and Leadership

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to train and coach production staff on quality practices and support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Team-oriented with the ability to escalate issues and collaborate across departments.

Language & Communication

  • Must be fluent in English with strong communication and interpersonal skills; bilingual ability is a plus.

Cognitive & Problem-Solving Skills

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to perform basic math calculations (add, subtract, multiply, divide) using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to resolve problems involving several concrete variables.

Work Schedule & Flexibility

  • Ability to work overtime, holidays, weekends, and 12-hour shifts (day or night) as needed.

Physical & Environmental Requirements

  • Ability to stand, sit, kneel, bend, stoop, climb, reach, and crawl for extended periods multiple times per day.
  • Manual dexterity involving wrist action, twisting, pulling, and raising arms at or above shoulder height.
  • Ability to work in warm, humid, and cool climates for extended periods.
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety glasses/goggles, hearing protection, steel-toe shoes/boots, face shield, gloves, and face mask.
  • Frequently lifts and packages rolls or boxes of flexible packaging from production machines, weighing between 15-100 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, color vision, and depth perception.

Working conditions

This position is performed primarily in a manufacturing and laboratory environment. The role requires frequent standing, walking, bending, and lifting of materials up to 50 lbs. Technicians may be exposed to varying temperatures, moderate noise levels, and moving machinery. Proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, and steel-toe footwear is mandatory. Work involves handling chemicals and operating precision instruments, requiring strict adherence to safety and housekeeping standards. Occasional overtime, weekend, or shift work may be necessary to support production schedules and urgent quality issues.
