JOB SUMMARY

Reporting andaccountable to the Nurse Manager, Director, the Outpatient Clinical Nurseisresponsible forcoordinating and delivering patient careutilizingthe nursing process in an outpatient setting.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assessespatients attending the outpatient clinictoidentifythe healthcare needs of patients. This may include taking medical histories,medication refills,conducting physical examinations, and performing diagnostic tests.Performsroutine medical procedures, such as administering injections,venipuncture,dressing wounds, and taking vital signs.

• Developsand implementspatient care plans in coordination with doctors and other members of the healthcare team.These plans may include medication schedules, wound care instructions, and follow-up appointment details.

• Educatespatients and their families on their conditions, treatment plans, medications, and lifestyle changes to manage their health effectively.Providesemotional support and counselling to patients and their families.

• Collaborateswith other healthcare professionals involved in the patient's care, including specialists, therapists, social workers, and home healthcare providers.Advocate for and educate patients on preventative care measures, such as regular screenings, balanced nutrition, and exercise.

• Maintainsaccurateand detailed records of patients' medical histories, treatments, and progress. Ensuresthat all patient records are kept confidential and areup to date.

• Adheresto all hospital and departmental safety policies andprotocols andensurecompliance with healthcare laws and regulations.Staysupdated on the latest advancements in nursing care through continuous learning and professional development. Attend seminars, workshops, and other training sessions asrequired.

• Advocatesfor patients' rights and needs, ensuring they receive the best possible care. Address any patient complaints or concerns, escalating them to management when necessary.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS

Some outpatient settings may require Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification prior to performing clinical care. Training and certification opportunities will be provided.

REQUIRED

• Must be licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of North Carolina or one of the compact states by the first day of clinical care.

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
