POSITION OVERVIEW: Lead a team of professionals responsible for complex investigations at the direction of the Legal Department, that may expose the company to significant legal and financial risk. Understand business, financial, legal and regulatory processes and concepts and execute investigatory plans/strategies. Responsible for implementing programs and assessments related to corporate integrity and compliance initiatives. ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Select, educate, develop and lead a team of professional staff responsible for complex investigations at the direction of the Legal Department, that may expose the company to significant legal and financial risk 2. Plan, organize, staff, direct and control the day-to-day operations of the Investigations & Compliance team; develop and implement policies and programs as necessary 3. Lead efforts to prevent, detect and respond to potential violations of company policy, regulations or statutes and any other misconduct, while promoting an ethical and compliant culture within the organization 4. Monitor reporter activity for trends and patterns to develop predictive and preventative controls 5. Ensure accurate, relevant and timely reporting is provided to all appropriate stakeholders 6. Monitor reports on internal complaint process and communicate status to upper management. Mitigate risk through identification of effective employee relations strategies and investigation needs 7. Maintain and develop understanding of changes in relevant best investigative practices and techniques, as well as trends, legal, government and regulatory environment 8. Implement and update the company's compliance programs including conflicts of interest, gifts and entertainment and the FedEx Freight Alert line 10. Comply with all applicable laws/regulations, as well as company policies/procedures 11. QUALIFICATIONS: * Bachelor's degree plus seven (7) years' experience in employment law (as an attorney or paralegal), human resources, employee relations or in-house security for a corporation * Previous experience in conducting or managing a team responsible for a minimum of twenty (20) internal company investigations per year in the last three (3) years, including investigative fieldwork consisting of employee interviews, investigative data analysis and production of investigative documentation * Strong investigation, interviewing/questioning, listening and research skills * Exceptional conflict resolution and/or mediation skills * Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to interact with and support employees and leadership across all organizational levels * Outstanding time management and organizational skills * Strong software skills, including use of Microsoft Office software and web-based applications WORKING CONDITIONS: * Fast-paced, deadline oriented * Frequent travel required Preferred Qualifications: Pay Transparency: Pay: Additional Details: While this is a remote position, the successful candidate must reside within 50 miles of a FedEx Freight location within the continental U.S. FedEx Freight is an Equal Opportunity Employer, including disabled and veterans.
