Job Summary

The primary purpose of the Quality Control (QC) Supervisor position is to maintain quality practices for UFP Industries, Inc., oversee the work of the onsite inspectors, and control of required practices. The QC Supervisor demonstrates extensive knowledge of processes, codes and specification and has the ability to perform routine QC inspections as required. The QC Supervisor shall be knowledgeable in QC equipment operations and associated documentation of inspections and testing. Maintains knowledge and proficiency. Responsible for oversight, direct supervision, coordination, development and education of individuals and working in a manner that is consistent with the policies, mission, vision and values of the company. Works under the supervision of the QC Manager.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities

  • Oversee the work of Quality Control Technician staff, implement methods to achieve goals of the department and maintain quality standards.
  • Provides quality control support and direction.
  • Ensure all employees have received adequate safety training.
  • Identifies researches and resolves various problems and opportunities.
  • Maintain an inventory of materials relating to QC operations.
  • Correspond with vendors to procure goods related to QC.
  • Research and evaluate products and suggest purchases.
  • Communicates to staff and other management members as required.
  • Maintain relationships with co-workers, customers, and regulatory counterparts.
  • Actively participate in programs, policies and initiatives designed to enhance the overall good of the company.
  • Represent the company, both internally and externally, in a professional manner consistent with our values and mission.
  • Performs other duties as required.

Qualifications

  • Post high school education is required
  • Minimum 3 to 5 years of experience in manufacturing 1 to 3 years of experience managing people.
  • Skill in computer use, including: Microsoft Office Suite or similar applications, recordkeeping systems and communication programs.
  • Skill in using measuring devices and lab equipment.
  • Understanding of company policies, practices and procedures.
  • Ability to interpret and follow regulations, manufacturer manuals, technical drawings, etc.
  • Skill in verbal, written and interpersonal communication.
  • Knowledge of staff supervision and leadership theory, principles and practices.
  • Knowledge of employment relations principles and practices.
  • Ability to define job expectations and evaluate performance.
  • Ability to establish Priorities and coordinate activities of staff.
  • Ability to mediate and resolve conflicts: Knowledge of counseling, interviewing and investigative techniques.
  • Knowledge of principles and practices of policy development.
  • Ability to analyze problems and develop solutions.
  • Knowledge of materials management principles, including procurement and inventory control.
  • Knowledge of Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and safe chemical handling, application and disposal practices.
