DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this position, you will oversee the operations of the PennDOT Welcome Centers, ensuring that your team delivers accurate, efficient, and helpful information to travelers visiting these facilities. Your role will involve representing the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania by warmly greeting and assisting guests, while also maintaining a comprehensive understanding of the state's highways, transportation networks, and various public and private attractions, including recreational areas, events, weather updates, accommodations, and tourist sites. Additionally, you will be responsible for distributing printed materials that enhance visitors' travel experiences. Your responsibilities will extend to public relations efforts, facilitating both internal and external communications to optimize operations, and participating in quarterly meetings focused on events, programs, and services, among other tasks.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment, 40-hour work week
- Hours of operation are 7:00 am to 7:00 pm. This position's hours are temporarily 9:00 am to 5:30 pm.
- This position works a 6-week rotating schedule. Days and hours can vary from Sunday to Saturday.
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
- Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- One year as a Tourist Information Counselor (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
- Two years of experience in work involving public contact; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training.
Additional Requirements:
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
