Job Description




As a Security Officer - Armed Shopping Patrol in Houston, TX, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Retail/Malls, and more. As a Patrol Armed Officer with Allied Universal, you will monitor and patrol retail locations, helping to deter security-related incidents while delivering exceptional customer service. This role requires you to carry a firearm and operate a vehicle as part of your duties. You will remain highly visible, interact with the public, and contribute to a welcoming atmosphere, upholding our values of integrity, teamwork, and a people-first approach.

What You'll Do:

  • Provide customer service to clients by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies and/or emergency response activities as needed.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, maintaining professionalism at all times.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols around the retail location and its perimeter to help to deter unwanted activity and support a secure environment.
  • Monitor for suspicious activity, unauthorized persons, and/or potential hazards while on patrol, and report findings according to site protocols.
  • Interact with employees, visitors, and customers in a courteous manner, offering assistance and information as appropriate.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of incidents, observations, and daily activities as required by Allied Universal and site procedures.
  • Carry a firearm as authorized and in accordance with company and site-specific guidelines, remaining prepared to respond appropriately to critical situations.
  • Support emergency response efforts by following established procedures for evacuations, medical incidents, and other urgent situations as needed.

Minimum Requirements:

  • At least five years of security-related experience is required.
  • A valid driver's license is required in accordance with Allied Universal driver policy requirements.
  • A current armed guard card or license is required.
  • Level III armed certification in Texas is required.
  • At least three years of combined law enforcement, military, or security-related experience or a college degree is required.
  • Be at least 21 years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Participate in industry-specific security training programs.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver's license will be required for driving positions only.
