Qualifications

Education and Experience: Education equivalent to graduation from a standard high school and experience equivalent to four years of storekeeping work.

Substitution of Experience for Education: Qualifying experience in storekeeping may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.

Necessary Special Qualifications: A valid motor vehicle operator's license may be required for employment in some positions.

Overview

Under general supervision, is responsible for storekeeping work of considerable difficulty and supervisory work of routine difficulty, being responsible for storekeeping operations at a large storehouse; and performs related work as required. An employee in this class is responsible for the operations of a major storehouse with a wide variety and volume of commodities. This class differs from that of a Storekeeper 1 in that an incumbent of the latter has lesser overall storekeeping responsibilities and often reports to an incumbent of this class.

Responsibilities

  1. Distributes daily work assignments to designated staff based on the number of work orders and priorities for the day.
  2. Conducts performance evaluations for all assigned staff. Provides guidance and direction for daily activities and necessary cross training.
  3. Performs various warehousing tasks including verifying order accuracy, comparing items pulled to shipping documents, collecting information from customers, reviewing contract and vendor information for restocking, inspecting incoming equipment/stock for damage, and maintaining accurate inventory.
  4. Operates various equipment to assist in moving and transporting inventory and orders throughout the warehouse. Operates motor vehicles to distribute deliverable customer orders.
  5. Inspects equipment to make recommendations for repairs or replacement.
  6. Performs periodic inventory checks to maintain accurate inventory including inventory on hazardous materials for accountability reports. Monitors all hazmat items to ensure all state and federal regulations are met.
  7. Performs data entry to compile information to generate reports, track inventory, process orders, track deliveries, and place orders.
  8. Provides excellent customer service and investigates customer complaints to resolve issues. Communicates errors in shipping/receiving to supervisors and communicates with staff to ensure delivery processes are carried out smoothly.

TN Driver Standards

State of Tennessee positions that may involve driving responsibilities require candidates to meet the following minimum driver qualifications:

  • A valid driver's license
  • For the past five years, the candidate's driver record must not have record of the following violations: driving under the influence (DUI), reckless driving, license suspension for moving violations, more than 4 moving violations.
