Description

In
this position, you will provide administrative and patient care support in the
Neurology clinic. Job duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Using the EMR (Care Connect) to manage and create scheduling
    templates for the different Neurology program specialties. Responsible for all
    patients scheduling.
  • Ensure all patients have proper medical insurance that are
    contracted with UCLA Neurological Services.
  • Verify and update patient information in Care Connect.
  • Case-manage complex patient processes that involve extensive
    research into insurance issues, coordinating logistics for outside UCLA
    testing, consults and procedures.
  • Acts as the patient care advocate by responding to patient
    needs and working to resolve patient and family concerns.
  • Work with Lead LVN on any clinical requests such as:
    medication refills; prior authorization for medications; orders for ST / PT /
    OT; home health care, etc.
  • Provide general administrative support including
    typing, filing, answering phones, taking messages, sending fax transmissions
    and other tasks as needed.
  • Respond to all patient and physician emails in a
    timely manner.
  • Compose medical necessity letters to patient's
    insurance companies; discharge from jury duty; special accommodations for
    school or work, and other letters as requested by physicians.
  • Responsible for organizing and maintaining
    functional filing systems; both electronic and hard copy files.

Hourly salary
range: $30.36 - $43.49

Qualifications

Required:

  • Demonstrated ability to handle confidential
    material with discretion
  • Demonstrated ability to screen incoming phone
    calls in order to assess urgency of requests.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft and
    Windows computer platforms and proficiency in the use of computer programs,
    including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, e-mail programs, web browsers, and Adobe
    Acrobat.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate Care Connect,
    download reports, documents and labs from patient's chart.
  • Demonstrated strong organizational skills to
    maintain the workflow of a fast-paced, high-volume clinic in a professional and
    efficient manner.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain accurate and
    updated files containing a variety of documents relating to the patient's care.
  • Excellent verbal and written English language
    skills to complete correspondence and reports with appropriate spelling,
    grammar, and format.
  • Demonstrated typing skills of 45 WPM
  • Experience in patient care.
  • Skills in analyzing
    information, problems, situations, practices, and procedures to recognize
    alternatives and provide solutions. Ability to problem-solve with other members
    of the clinic team while maintaining cooperative working relationships with
    administrators, providers, peers, and the public. Skill in recognizing an
    emergency or high priority situation and taking appropriate and immediate
    action. Ability to maintain composure when confronted with difficult situations
    and respond professionally. Skill in speaking clearly and using appropriate
    grammar. Ability to work as part of a team, maintaining confidentiality in all
    assignments, and show initiative in identifying and solving problems as they
    occur.
